Layers...in more ways than one

Finally, after nearly four months of waffling and waiting, I got a haircut!! (The reasons for the long wait are dull; suffice it to say, it wasn't my plan to wait so long!)

It might not look all that different from some previous cuts, and I suppose it isn't, really, but she cut more layers all over and also left a subtly disconnected longer piece in the back on one side. It's not that noticeable (the hair under and around is not shaved or anything) but it does add a bit of movement.

It was very cold in Vancouver so I wore lots of layers! In this photo, I'm wearing a silk blouse, cashmere sweater, puffer jacket, scarf, and wool coat!

All the darks are navy, not black.

I hadn't worn this Club Monaco blouse for a long while. I still like it enormously. It felt a bit romantic for a post-Valentine's lunch with Mr. Suz before our journey home.

Looks great! I like how the layers really emphasize the color variation.

That is a gorgeous scarf--it highlights and sets off your face and hair and makes the outfit. Beautiful outfit overall. You look polished and toasty warm.

Great fresh haircut - love it ( waiting for mine - bit impatient and starting to trim front myself ;-) )!
Layered look is fabulously streamlined with catching bright scarf!

Beautiful cut. That was a long time to wait! Pixies need a surprising amount of appointments to stay sharp.

Your haircut looks perfect, love the face framing layers. And of course your outfit is a great example of classic layering.
You seem to have a way with scarves that's so effortlessly chic too.

Great haircut.  And I’m always up for outfits with lots of layers.

Picture perfect as always Suz! Love the subtle texture and movement of this haircut.

    Love the haircut, Suz!

The outfit looks relaxed and elegant, great job layering for the weather.

Very pretty!  I'd have been cutting it myself long before 4 months !  That required a LOT of patience, and it must feel great to have "your hair" back again :)

The disconnected longer layers will give you some leeway to play.  Maybe even clips/hair ornaments like Angie showed in her thread?

I’ve become such a big fan of using lightweight puffers for layering under cloth coats.  They add an element of ‘shine’ to all the heavy texture.  Nicely done!

I do see a difference with your new hairstyle and it looks great! Great layering too.

ooo, looking at your Caprina belt in your Finds. I would like to buy a navy belt and liked the Dutch Ocean colour Brave has, but I was wondering how dark is it? Is it a blue-black, or more dark blue ink? (I would prefer a blue ink colour.)

Four months is a long time when you have short hair, yet yours always looks neat and polished to me (as do your outfits). Honestly, I’m so grateful I don’t have to layer for cold, cold weather, as I’m not very good at it. I’d probably just throw on my warmest black parka and call it a day, lol.  So I admire the attention to detail so many of you (SJP, Anchie, and Janet come to mind) with your outerwear selections and ensembles.

Lovely outfit. Your wearing our Aritzia puffer under a black coat and it looks great.

Gorgeous hair cut! And I love the all navy outfit; like you, black is not my thing.

  • Janet replied 1 year ago

Oh, I do like the slightly longer layers, Suz! Very nice, and yes, I can see how they add some movement and dimension to the cut. Great outfit as always!

  • Suz replied 1 year ago

Thanks, all! Four months is WAY too long to wait for a pixie! It was like pandemic times all over again.

It's not long enough for clips, Carla! Just one slightly longer strand at back, which gives a different profile on that side. Most of my hair is about 1/4 long! Really, really short.

KILLER gorgeous haircut! A bit wavier. Longer layers are versatile too! LOVE that! Subtle but meaningful change :)

KILLER fab look! Effective layers, and the scarf draping makes it very Suz.

It's been bitter in the PNW hasn't it..... :(

Bluejay, meant to reply about the belt. It is not a blue black. It is not even a dark navy. It's a brighter, slightly warmer navy. Quite true to the photo. I am not fussy about navies exactly matching and, as you probably know, I wear a LOT of navy. To my mind it works with almost all of what I have, from denims to ink blue and blue black -- but again -- I like to mix my navy tones.

You look gorgeous in this haircut and the wine and navy layers. I love the idea of layering a puffer jacket under the wool coat.

    Looks great!

Great all round Suz- love the textures in the hair and outfit.

  • Joy replied 1 year ago

Wonderful hair!  I have been wearing mine up which means a cold neck if a scarf is not added.  I like the layered coats and need to try playing with that in my closet.

  • replied 1 year ago

Yay for haicut- and love the scarf and boots especially!

  • DonnaF replied 1 year ago

Haircut makes me want to tousle your hair. Love your outfit as well.

  • Jonesy replied 1 year ago

Gorgeous! Luminous Garçonne FTW! Your hair looks lovely and you rock a navy peacoat!

  • Stagiaire Fash replied 1 year ago

Great mixing together of pinks and blues. I’ll trust you on the longer lock in the back. In both hair and clothing, the layers make everything look easy and full of movement/possibility. I’ve been meaning to get my hair cut too—last time was when I was here in Sept, so about as long as you.

Fabulous layering and colour combo, Suz -- you look warm and chic! Enjoy the saucy new haircut!!
