Shopping with the Pro: Part 1

This is the fun photos post! I'll follow up with some individual reviews of items that I tried and some general sale thoughts in separate posts. Onwards!

1. Sale mayhem just before my arrival. I had never visited the flagship store. It's much bigger than Vancouver's store (which is also quite large) with much better selection and options. It was busy in store but extremely civilized. Of course it helped that I was travelling with a Queen and supported by her retinue. :)  Seriously, though -- "busy" does not equal Filene's basement madness. Just a lot of shoppers.

2. The Queen herself -- without shoes. Because I stole her shoes to wear them myself in 3. Trying on jeans.

4. Selfie fun.

5. Long Rag & Bone jacket for anyone who wants to see.

6. Halogen bouclé.

7. 1 State windowpane jacket.

8. Our lovely assistant takes a pic.

9. Topshop jacket.

10/11. 1 State longline

Footwear department try-ons -- more information to follow.

22/23 -- the amazing Annagybe! Check out those shoes...

24. What I got -- or am hoping to get (some items not available, more to follow.)

Below are Finds of items I tried on/ considered/ looked at and talked about with Angie -- I have more information on all for those who are curious and throughout the day will be writing separate category posts to help shoppers!

I love this so much. Just. So. Much.

Also...plaid combat boots?! Please tell me you got them.

  • Barbara Diane replied 4 years ago

Wow. Thanks for capturing your day in photos and finds.
Which items were you able to bring home and which did you order?

  • Kathie replied 4 years ago

Thanks so much for sharing! You all look like you had a glorious time! The windowpane jacket is fabulous on you- so glad you're getting that one. And the PG red boots? Did those make the cut? I spy the red Avec les Filles coat- I ordered that one, too. Fingers crossed that it will ship, and I can be triplets with you and Angie.

  • Suz replied 4 years ago

You bet I bought the boots. No question. :)

  • taylor replied 4 years ago

    What darling happy photos !
It really looks like you have found some wonderful items.....more importantly having an absolute ball with the queen !
How lucky you are Suz :) to spend time shopping with Angie and meeting Anna too!

The longline blazer/ jacket in photo 10/11 is beautiful on you .

  • Style Fan replied 4 years ago

I love this.  I was so excited when I found out about this.  Best ever.

  • Bijou replied 4 years ago

    SO MUCH FUN!!!

I find sale shopping overwhelming and something to be avoided, so it is great to see what a good sale experience can look like. The long red coat, and navy and red check blazer are just amazing.

I hope you are not teasing us with so many pictures of those wonderful red boots? They look great, even with your pretty summer dress.

Anna is just the coolest person ever and these photos just confirm that.

How could a meet up of Angie, Suz and Anna be anything less than wonderful? The smiles say it all. I hope you had tea and cake after that marathon effort.

  • Angie replied 4 years ago

OF COURSE SUZ GOT THE TARTAN BOOTS :)

HAH! Soooo fun! We were quite giddy.....yet laser focused. Good team work!

Loved that you could use my sneaks! EVERYTHING that you got so far is the bomb!

p.s. see how boney, narrow, unpadded and LONG toed my feet are.....

    #17 - boots I did NOT like..

And I'm off to work with the next client...

  • Janet replied 4 years ago

Yayayayay! Oh god, the red plaid boots are everything — I’m so happy you are getting them. I love that red and white jacket on you too. You are all adorable!

Anna, I need your tee shirt.

  • Joyce B replied 4 years ago

Thank you so much for sharing the fun with us, Suz! Such fun pictures of you and Angie and also Anna. What a special day you had, it must be the best thing to shop with Angie :) .
Those tartan boots are fab on you! I am loving the items that you are showing.
Are the snake print Blondo booties narrow? If not, do you think they may fit wide feet? A review says they are narrow...

  • Joyce B replied 4 years ago

And Angie, I don’t think anyone notices what you say about your feet. Many times what we see in ourselves is not what reflects to others.

  • Suz replied 4 years ago

Off to start some category post threads. Will also post a "what I'm getting and why" thread later this weekend.

  • replied 4 years ago

I am 100,000+% in love with the tartan boots!!!

  • Karie replied 4 years ago

Sweet sister! It looks like you are all having a blast. I LOVE those longer blazers and the red plaid boots look super fun.

  • mtnsofthemoon replied 4 years ago

Looks like you ladies had a blast!  I am a tad jealous but super happy for your amazing NAS experience.  Thank you so much for "modeling" so many of the items.  And your boots are adorable.  I spy Angie wearing some Bday prezzies and they are gorgeous!  Can't wait to hear more about your finds Suz.  BTW Suz you look amazing!!

  • Laura replied 4 years ago

I am soooooo glad you got the plaid Paul Green boots! Woo hoo! You girls look like you’re having waaaaay too much fun. This is how NAS is done!

  • fathenry replied 4 years ago

So much fun, thanks for sharing! I look forward to hearing what you think of the coats.

  • fathenry replied 4 years ago

    Coats! Darn autocorrect!

  • Christina F. replied 4 years ago

Yay how fun! Everyone and everything looks smashing.

You'll be unsurprised to learn I like many of these items. :D I'd like to know about the fits of the 1.State plaid blazer (yeah, I said no blazers, sue me) and the red Avec les Filles coat. Right now, I want the plaid Avec les Fille coat more, but I can see getting the red instead. Coats are a hard fit on me, though since I'm petite on top and two sizes larger on the bottom. I need some ease through the hips. (NB: The NYC flagship isn't open til later this fall; I desperately wish I could go try these things on in person once I'm able to shop. I could get to a store on public transport, but it would take time I don't have over the next few weekends.)

I want those combat boots so much but I've spent SO MUCH on shoes the past year due to my injury issues that I can't justify their cost; my cream Frye booties were my one splurge in that category this year.  I'm good at justifying things to myself, but not in this case. *sob* I'll have to live vicariously. I can easily see getting the Pikolinos, though. The red would add something to my wardrobe.

    Just WOW.

  • replied 4 years ago

How I wish I had been a fly on the wall :) What a great opportunity for you and it looks like you had a wonderful time . Looking forward to the rest of your posts - and to finding out more about the jacket in pic 10 - it looks fab on you . Sometimes I think I’m the only female my age who doesn’t understand Docs but I’m ok with that - glad you found some cool ones :)

  • Staysfit replied 4 years ago

Do those tartan boots have olive in them? It’s so nard to tell online!

  • Peri replied 4 years ago

You two could be sisters! Seriously, you look so much alike and have similar shapes and tastes...it's amazing!

  • delurked replied 4 years ago

The boots are amazing looking. Glad you two had so much fun.

  • DonnaF replied 4 years ago

Sigh and swoon. Good thing I've never found a good fit in Paul Green. I must be the only one. Glad you got them; they will look so great with your wardrobe.

  • annagybe replied 4 years ago

I came straight from work, but am very glad for our very brief meeting
Looks like you got some good stuff

  • Helena replied 4 years ago

    Three beauties ❤️

  • pil replied 4 years ago

    So jealous!
And those red boots - amazing.

  • Alecia replied 4 years ago

This post made me really happy. So fun to see you all together, clearly enjoying the company, and looking fab, too!

  • Stagiaire Fash replied 4 years ago

Looks like you're having so. much. fun. Love the jackets in 6, 7, & 10/11, and the boots make me wish I'd held off on my red ones.

I'm curious about the process: Did Angie gather up things for you before you got there based on a list, or from what she knows of you/the sale? The shoes are all really different--what were you looking for? At what point did budget enter into the equation?

  • Suz replied 4 years ago

I'll write a whole post on the process in a separate thread, Fashintern, just as soon as I get a chance. Will first do mini reviews of some of the items I tried on so people who are curious about fit and quality can get info on that. And then the big summary/ analysis. :) Will try my best to answer all your questions!

  • anne replied 4 years ago

Thanks for the Pics Suz. So great to have some more insight and looking forward to reading more.

  • Stagiaire Fash replied 4 years ago

How did I forget that you're an author? You've got the whole thing sketched out & table of contents written!

  • Windchime replied 4 years ago

Reading this account is the next best thing to actually being there. What a fantastically fun time you must have had! I love your purchases; they are perfect for you in so many ways. I also love the dress you wore for the shopping trip; it looks gorgeous on you.

  • gryffin replied 4 years ago

Suz - you two and three are beyond adorable!! What an amazing day!! You just glow! Glad it was such a success. Can’t wait to read about what you bought. Any intell on boyfriend jeans is sincerely appreciated!!

  • Suz replied 4 years ago

Thank you, Windchime! That dress is such a winner in so many ways I can't even count. GORGEOUS lightweight all cotton material -- and it is a TWO PIECE so I can wear as separates. And do. From J. Crew last year -- one of my favourite purchases of the year. Became an instant workhorse and is still one.

  • Suz replied 4 years ago

Gryffin, thank you! Jeans post coming up tomorrow along with tops. :)

  • Christina F. replied 4 years ago

While we’re on the topic - I copied your two piece dress idea. It’s going to be so useful for my travels....

  • Suz replied 4 years ago

Ah, Christina -- some day we have got to meet in person. I picture us in our twinned outfits swanning around the MET and then going out for something yummy to eat in our practical footwear. :)

  • Jaime replied 4 years ago

So much fabness. Nothing like a genuine good time between friends to bring out the best smiles! Yes, of course you needed those red boots. And thank you for writing detail posts because there is too much goodness for me to respond to in one post! Ok, thank you so much for posting and posing for these wonderful photos!

  • Thistle replied 4 years ago

Such an amazing time and fun experience!

  • RobinF replied 4 years ago

    How fun you lucky duck!

Gorgeous jackets! I need to go back and read the details more closely.

  • Christina F. replied 4 years ago

Suz - YES. And if we plan to go to the Met, we need supportive shoes, for sure. Those marble floors are killer - and not in the sense that Angie uses it.

  • Elizabeth P replied 4 years ago

This is so awesome.  I just saw your posts and am backtracking to read them.  I had no idea you were planning to shop with the pro... best thing ever!

  • replied 4 years ago

Ditto Peri-you do look like sisters!
