WIW: For Eirlys and Sveta

Forum member Eirlys just celebrated her 84th birthday -- in beautiful, bright style. As well as a few stripes.

It disappointed her a little to see her fellow diners wearing ultra casual clothing -- and she wondered if she was alone in liking to dress up a little bit for dinner.

Well, it happened to be a gorgeous evening where I live. So Mr. Suz and I elected to go out for an impromptu patio supper at a local bistro.

My daytime outfit consisted of my Bernias, a pair of Mexx bermudas, a silk top from Costco, and a "matchy matchy" bag.

It took me all of 3 minutes to switch things up -- traded the shorts for a Vince Camuto tube skirt, and the sandals for my Okalas, for a second hit of matchy-matchy.

Dressed up? Yes, a little. Yet every bit as comfortable as the original outfit.

This multi-layered silk trapeze top came to me courtesy of Sveta, who found them at her local Costco last year. I seldom wore mine last year because it was a little bit long for me proportionately and I never could style it properly.

A quick trip to Wonder Woman East fixed that -- I had it trimmed just the smallest amount and now it feels much better on me. Yet another orphan-turned-workhorse.   :)   Sveta had challenged me last year to wear this striped skirt with bright colour as opposed to my fallback black or white, so Sveta, this is also for you.

    Lovely, both of them!

Love both renditions, and a great example of how small changes can have a dramatic impact. I think most people would view #1 as "dressy enough", but I love that you stepped it up a notch because, well, why not!

Yeah!! Fabulous! I love doing that - switching out a couple things to go out for nice casual evenings! Great costco shirt!! Love it (and will copy it ;) )!!!

    Very nice!!!

  • Windchime replied 9 years ago

What a yummy color that shirt is, Suz! It works equally well with your crisp white bermudas and your awesome V.C. skirt.

  • Sveta replied 9 years ago

I hate to brag but wasn't I right in insisting to pair brights with this skirt? :-)
I love the both outfits so, so much - you look wonderful!
    THANK YOU!!!

Fabulous Suz.  I love that top and that you got it via YLF via costco.

Very fab!  I hope you had a great dinner out.

Wow! You are a knockout in cobalt! Both are beyond gorgeous! Fab x 2!!!

Both versions are beautiful, but I love that you stepped it up for dinner! I adore that color on you.

One of my favorite color combinations - cobalt with black and white!  I love the way you were able to make just small changes to your day outfit to up the "dressy" factor!  Well done Suz - and you look great!

Love this bright combination on you Suz and this illustrates perfectly how just a quick couple of swaps can take you from day to night. Gosh I wish I had those Okalas...

  • Dee replied 9 years ago

The color of that top is lovely on you, and I love how you've dressed it up and down!

And every time I see it, I really want one of the striped VC skirts. I might to start a collection like so many others have!

  • Sara L. replied 9 years ago

Great outfits!  I like the blue with the black and white stripes.

I usually do the reverse of your outfit change.  I come home from work and dress down my work outfit to take the kids to soccer practice, swimming lessons, etc.

  • Karie replied 9 years ago

I love that top on you! The color looks fantastic.

  • Jaime replied 9 years ago

Fantastic switch - both outfits look great and completely different from one another!

  • Debbie replied 9 years ago

You look great for dinner. Hope you had a good time.

  • Debora replied 9 years ago

So lovely, both outfits! Thanks for illustrating how easy it can be to make a few changes to up the dressiness factor without foregoing comfort. You look fab!

  • Joy replied 9 years ago

*Standing ovation*. You illustrate that dressing to go out doesn't have to be a big deal or uncomfortable. I'm sure that Mr. Suz was proud to be your companion. Beautiful.

Great look!  I read Eirlys thread and I hope she reads this one, what a kind thought.
Fun to step it up for a night out.

  • Gracie replied 9 years ago

You're a quick-change artist! I love that shade of blue on you, specially with the silver metallic Bernia sandals, so fab!

  • lyn67 replied 9 years ago

Aw, this is a great wardrobe meant to be for! For the no brains, 1 second changes and still look great and appropiate to any occasions occuring at any time in our lives! Delicious, Suz, BOTH of these!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Alexandra replied 9 years ago

    Fabulous! Both outfits.

  • Neel replied 9 years ago

Oh my! Gorgeous! You make it all look so easy peasy! Effortless chic! Love the okalas with the stripes!

  • texstyle replied 9 years ago

Fantastic Suz - and what a great example of how to go from casual to dressy! I love that cobalt blue on you and with the bag it really completes such a great outfit -- look at the way those shoes go with the stripes in the skirt. Love it.

  • E replied 9 years ago

Go Suz! Both versions are beautiful. :)

  • Angie replied 9 years ago

Sensational Suz is a vision of Sassy Fabness. And fun to see you in cobalt.

An easy switcheroo is all it takes to change up your look. Hope supper was great. You look fresh, beautiful and very stylish. xo

Please - you're killing me !  I want every piece here. I swear if I don't find that skirt soon...... Cobalt is such a great non season-specific colour , isn't it?  And one that suits you well.

Lovely dinner out ensemble, and nice, cool, work-at-home outfit . You look beautiful!

  • Suz replied 9 years ago

    Thank you all so kindly!

Lisa, do you know what? I love cobalt but for me, it IS season specific, or just about.

It's a bit too clear and strong for me in winter light, with my winter pale skin. Whereas in summer it is really great on me, at least in this slightly softened version.

What I took away from this experiment is that matchy matchy makes me happy!  :) I did have a nice time and it was a perfect evening for al fresco dining. Plus, the Okalas are super comfortable for dress shoes.

  • shedev replied 9 years ago

    I like both versions, Suz.
