Extra? Dries consignment find

Thank you all for your kind commiserations on my crash. The pain has been worse the last few days but I'm also getting treatment (physio and massage) and my follow up x-ray is good, so I think I am on the mend.

I've been waiting for weeks to show you something I found while in Vancouver for Mr. Suz's surgery in late May. I visited one of my favourite consignment shops and came away with these Dries van Noten cotton-linen pleated wide leg joggers in plaid. Is that "extra", or what? I mean, all in themselves.

I say they are Dries van Noten and that is what the tag says, but I can't find a similar version online from any collection. So maybe they are a fake. I doubt it though -- the shop is reputable and they are very nicely made.

I apologize for the poor lighting. I did not have the energy to set things up today for anything better, but I think you still get the idea. They are navy, off-white, burgundy, black. They are SUPER comfy.  I think they'll be really useful on those early fall days when it is still hot, but also throughout spring and summer with white and lilac.

I must say, I feel very "garçonne" especially with the wingtips. It's a 20s golfing outfit!

Soooo glad you're on the mend, sweet Suz! You are looking no worse for wear. IMPRESSED!

KILLER FIND. Absolutely love those on you! The wide cuffs make them special to my eye. The gorgeous check too. Best joggers I've seen this year :)

Beautifully styled! Can't a pick a fave! Good for the Juneuary we are having now. Good with the Navy Furla too....

  • NancyW replied 10 months ago

    Both stunning and fun!

  • LJP replied 10 months ago

Well *those* are interesting ! I admit I was freaked out by the description but these are far less out there than I expected . What a great score these were and I bet you will wear them a ton . And - I must say you don’t look like someone who was hit by a car a week ago . Sorry about the pain though :(

  • Jaime replied 10 months ago

What a fabulous find! These look absolutely just right on you! It is highly unlikely they are not authentic. The pattern seems to match up beautifully, and Dries van Noten is a bit niche for such a sophisticated knock off, particularly of trousers, in my opinion.
So glad you are doing well after your crash. And that you are following up on all the tests and treatments.

  • LJP replied 10 months ago

    Are these not them ?

  • Suz replied 10 months ago

Whoa, Lisa, what a sleuth!! That is the one!! At least I think so. How in heck did you locate them? I did a search when I first bought them a few weeks ago and kept coming up empty!

    Thank you!

And yes, they sound a bit wilder than they are in fact. :)

Angie, you are so right -- they will work beautifully with the Furla, and the minute I can carry it again, you can bet I'll be wearing it with them! I saw a woman with a gorgeous beige crossbody Furla when I was at the specialized hand physiotherapy clinic yesterday and was jealous. Clearly her problem was different from mine!

  • Suz replied 10 months ago

And wow, I most certainly did not pay $765 for them!!  They weren't dirt cheap but we are talking BR prices, not that kind of money.

  • Nadya replied 10 months ago

What a fun find, and I love your garçonne outfit. Sending more good wishes for a speedy recovery.

  • Sally replied 10 months ago

Very cute pants and they go well with the white sneakers and top you are wearing.  What a great find!

  • Greyscale replied 10 months ago

Wonderful! I just found your post about your scary bike crash -- I'm so glad it wasn't worse!! These pants are fantastic. And the BR white linen top too. (Mine just arrived in black, this evening.)

  • Sisi replied 10 months ago

Those are fabulous pants! And you look fab in them. The colors are beautiful and a linen-cotton blend is excellent in warm weather. I cannot pick a favourite outfit.
So glad you are doing better!

  • Olive Green replied 10 months ago

Glad you are recuperating and getting physio, hope you are out of the painful part soon.
Those pants are so very you. And look so comfortable. Love the colours.

  • ChristelJ replied 10 months ago

Agree these are totally you, and terrific in every version you show here. Super cool!
Hope you feel better every day.

  • Star replied 10 months ago

These are very You.  I like them most with the darker tops.

  • Dee replied 10 months ago

Those pants are just a fabulous find for your wardrobe. I think they'll be so useful particularly in the fall and winter. Love all the ways you've styled them too, they are very garçonne indeed.

Glad to hear you're slowly recovering, and the physio et all is helping. That was a scary event to go through both physically and mentally, so its good that you're allowing yourself to slowly heal at your own pace.

  • Jules replied 10 months ago

Very cool find Suz - and they appear made for you and your style. I do like them best with the turtleneck, and do you have any dark loafers? I’m particular about (my idea of) seasonality though and I know your current climate is less seasonal than mine! So rock them all year round :)

  • replied 10 months ago

Not too extra at all- they look authentic for you!
I often have trouble finding pics online of my items too, even when I buy them in boutiques- so current season.
    Glad you're recovering!

  • kkards replied 10 months ago

Oh these are perfect…just enough “extra” to be special but not extra enough to feel like you’re wearing a costume! I can see these being something that you have for years.

Sorry you’re still feeling unwell, but glad that the X-ray was good.

  • Brooklyn replied 10 months ago

These look super on you! Great find.

Glad to see you up and about and on the mend :)

  • Janet replied 10 months ago

Those are great and you wear them beautifully! Keep resting and healing!

  • RobinF replied 10 months ago

Fabulous pants! I like how you have styled them too. You always have just the right pieces!

Glad you are on the mend!

  • Vildy replied 10 months ago

I have a passion for golfing themed clothes or anything and I don't golf. Love your outfit!  Congrats on a great find.

  • Joy replied 10 months ago

What a great outfit! They look just right on you. Enjoy your find.

  • LJP replied 10 months ago

It came up right away on an image search - who knows ?!

  • CarolS replied 10 months ago

Good detective work, Lisa - those look like the ones! And wow, Suz, those are killer for you! The pants version of your tulle skirt. :-)

Glad to hear you are on the mend, and I hope the pain goes away SOOOON!!!

  • Bonnie replied 10 months ago

Wonderful find and every outfit you tried looks great. I love your 20's golfing outfit description.

  • Irina replied 10 months ago

What a wonderful find! Looks fab!

  • April replied 10 months ago

    Go, Suz!  In every regard.

  • Suz replied 10 months ago

Thanks, all. Lisa, maybe it's search engine? Or search terms? I was using Dries van Noten plaid pants (or trousers, or joggers, or pleated pant) women and many variations thereof. Came up empty again on Google. Fascinating.

Carol, I thought of that as well -- the pants and skirt do have a somewhat similar plaid.

Jules, I do have dark loafers -- will wear them with those in the early fall. I hear what you're saying about seasonality but I think the dark colour and plaid may be confusing to the eye a bit. These are very much summer weight pants in cotton/ linen -- I can wear them in warm spring and warm fall but not beyond. Except maybe with long undies beneath.

Greyscale -- waving at my shirt cousin! Hope you like it. I would have been in your part of the world this week if not for the accident -- we had to postpone our trip, and luckily, we could do so with little cost except the jazz tickets and theatre tickets we will now miss out on...

  • Mirjana replied 10 months ago

These look super on you! Great find.
All are perfect styled. I'm glad you're better.

  • quietloud replied 10 months ago

Those pants are fantastic, extra in just the right way! I love how you've styled them too. What an amazing find!

  • Jonesy replied 10 months ago

Fabulous pants! Here they are on the runway, Suz. They are from his "grunge" collection (lots of plaid, very gorgeous and iconic, if I do say so myself!), for Spring 2013.

Your crash sounds absolutely terrifying. I hope you continue to heal and time works its magic to help you process what happened and move forward.

  • Suz replied 10 months ago

Oooh -- ten years old and still looking new! Thanks, Jonesy, for those images! They give great ideas for styling! Wear in fall with my gilet. Wear with a delicate for me shoe. Wear with burgundy. Wear with silk!

Here are some items I thought I might style them with in different times of year...and maybe more. I also have a burgundy silk blouse cut down from a Vince shirtdress that I'm going to try in fall.

  • Elizabeth P replied 10 months ago

What a find, Suz!  They look gorgeous on you, and will be soooo versatile going forward.  I think my fav look is with the jean jacket, but they are all fab.
Good to hear you're somewhat on the mend.

  • Cardiff girl replied 10 months ago

You always find such great stuff! Those trousers are lovely and l really like the waysthatyouhave styled them.Glad your health is on the mend even if it’s a bit sore presently, that will go,you are looking good.

  • Mary replied 10 months ago

Those pants are fabulous on you!
I get to Vancouver from time to time and would love to know which consignment stores you love.

  • Suz replied 10 months ago

Mary, I'm a huge Turnabout fan.

I got the pants at the Turnabout Luxe on Granville but I also enjoy shopping at all the other locations. https://turnabout.com/pages/locations

The prices are not thrift level, but consignment. You won't leave with any $3 designer bargains. But you'll get value for money if you know what you're after or you enjoy the thrill of the find! I got a Paul Smith jacket at the Broadway location for $60 or something like that.

A few of my Turnabout purchases ... some retired and gone to new homes now! And most still in my closet.

  • Bijou replied 10 months ago

I love these pants for you and love the ruffle blue blouse if you ever wanted to make them work for a more formal event.

  • Barbara Diane replied 10 months ago

LOVE them! So glad you showed the close-up.

  • Staysfit replied 10 months ago

Suz, I somehow missed that you were in an accident. I hope the PT helps you achieve a quick and full recovery!  The pants look amazing.  The outfits made me gasp because each one makes you shine and they definitely read as garçonne!  I am sorry you’re not feeling your best because I think you have truly nailed your personal style.  Take good care Suz!

  • LaPed replied 10 months ago

Oh gosh, Suz, I’m just catching up on the forum for the first time in a couple weeks and I’m so sorry to hear about your bike crash. Scary!

What a truly wonderful outfit. Garçonne indeed! Adding pleated plaid trousers to my fall wishlist stat. :)
