Inspired by Angie

I fell in love with Angie's retro 70s outfit. I don't have the amazing sailor pants, or the fantastic impeccable equestrienne jacket, or the elegant jabot blouse, or the show-stopping Yorkie brooch...but I do have some pieces that recalled those to me.

The last few weeks have been oh-so-tumultuous at my house and very stressful. So when Mr. Suz invited me out for an impromptu lunch on Friday, I jumped at the chance. Here's what I wore, inspired by Angie's outfit.

Old Gap Long and Lean jeans -- my only flares.
CM silk blouse
Reiss blazer
Zara blue booties
Sparkly brooch
And, because I didn't have time to change it out, my Zara knapsack, which may not have been the best bag, but what can you do.

I felt comfortably elegant in this outfit. Thank you for the inspiration, as always, Angie.

    Killer.

Super elegant, easy, chic and fresh. LOVE the lighter colour of your hair too. (Fun to see the Reiss blazer in action - happy days shopping together with you and Viv in the Boston Reiss store).

Humbled to have inspired you, Suz. Hope lunch was fab.

Okay. That's me off the forum till tomorrow. Got to rest the right arm.

Love everything about this Suz.  Hope the next week is more relaxed.

Really pretty Suz !  I had a couple pair of those long and lean jeans and really liked them .  They were pretty sexy jeans!  I didn't keep them though - I remember them being VERY low rise.  :Love your CM blouse too - is it a navy print?

  • Carole replied 8 years ago

Beautiful, Suz! The top is such a lovely print:)I have a pair of those long and leans too! You've inspired me to give them a whirl.

Suz, you look amazing in this formula. It really is too bad that you don't get to wear flared pants with blazers more of the year, because it really suits you.

  • kellygirl replied 8 years ago

LOVE this, Suz. I've only worn my L&Ls once this year. I think I need to pull them out again!

  • shedev replied 8 years ago

Cute look, hope things settle down for you soon.

You look so pretty Suz. Love these jeans on you. The blouse is perfect - beautifully floral....and complements the blazer very well. Hope you had a lovely lunch with Mr. Suz, and I hope things settle down at the Suz-ville very soon.

Wow, all -including lighter hair- is fab! Very well done, Suz! You always look effortlessy  chic, no matter what!:-)

  • Stephanie replied 8 years ago

Comfortably elegant is right! I love how you put your own spin on this outfit. YLF.

  • Suz replied 8 years ago

You are all very kind. I have to confess that the lighter hair doesn't make me happy; in real life it is too yellow for my complexion. It is not light on purpose -- it bleached out in the sun. Oh well. Thinking of cutting it all off anyway to let the greys come in.

Meanwhile, I really do love the old Long and Lean jeans and save them even though I only get to wear them about 8 times a year.

Lisa, the blouse is called "apricot" (so weird) but it's a navy and cream print with teeny bits of pink or apricot that are almost invisible and possibly a slight blush undertone to the off-white background.

    Angie, rest that arm!!

Must have been something in the Ontario air...I was sporting my long and leans yesterday..tho not nearly as stylishly as you have posted! Love everything about this!

Hope the stress is abating Suz!

  • catgirl replied 8 years ago

What a great way to find inspiration in your own closet - it very much echoes the spirit of Angie's outfit!

  • shiny replied 8 years ago

So bizarre.... I wore an outfit VERY similar to this last week! Did not take a pic. But a white & black floral sweater (from last year), ponte knit moto jacket, and with boot cut jeans, not flares.

  • Suz replied 8 years ago

It's in the air, Jennifer! I always pull out the flares on sunny autumn days when I can wear a bit of a heel. It happens so darn rarely in my life I enjoy it when I can! I'll bet you looked fab in your outfit.

  • Beth Ann replied 8 years ago

So wonderfully elegant!  I love the "asian toile" of the print.  I'm enjoying lighter tops underneath a darker column.  I think they light up the face.

Glad you had a little special time with Dr. Suz.  Hope things settle down for you!

  • Jaime replied 8 years ago

That jacket is perfection on you, the flares also. I rate this a Wow! Hope things are calming down.

  • Deborah replied 8 years ago

Suz you are rocking those flares!  Lovely outfit.  You look amazing.  Sorry there has been stress in your world.  Do take care :)  Hey have you changed your hair colour??  It's looking more blonde (and fab) xx

You look beautiful in this outfit, Suz. It's so elegant and modern. You wear a blazer like nobody's business; you look at ease in it. Hope you had a wonderful lunch date.

  • Kari replied 8 years ago

So elegant! I love this interpretation, Suz. You make me miss my Long & Leans (I've been thinking about adding a pair.) The silk blouse is beautiful and I actually like the sleek but sporty vibe of the backpack with this look.

  • Aida replied 8 years ago

Lovely! You look amazing in cream+navy Suz. Get those flare wears in while you can :D

  • Windchime replied 8 years ago

Wonderful navy blue take on Angie's outfit, Suz! Your blouse and brooch add polish and a bit of glam to the outfit. The navy blue boots are great; you look fab!

  • Brooklyn replied 8 years ago

Very elegant. The floral blouse is super on you.

  • Sal replied 8 years ago

I also love this Suz, it is comfortably elegant as you say.  And pull out those flares twice a week while you can!!

I have had similar problems with hair going too light and slightly yellow (I can't tell in the picture though).  I do use purple shampoo sometimes to dull it down and temper the goldy shades.  It is a little dullening on the hair so not a perfect solution but sometimes buys me a week before the next appointment.

  • Karin L H replied 8 years ago

You look super fab! Love that blouse.

  • Bijou replied 8 years ago

This is such a lovely rendition of Angie's look - I am sure it will inspire quite a few copies itself!

  • Karie replied 8 years ago

A beautiful interpretation of Angie's outfit. The jacket brings back fun Boston memories. Can you believe it's been 1 1/2 yrs. already? I hope life calms down for you soon.

  • dakotacheryl replied 8 years ago

very classy combination..hope your date was wonderful too!!

  • Lisa replied 8 years ago

Lovely outfit!  The printed top is delightful under the blazer.

  • Colette replied 8 years ago

The blazer-jeans look is my favorite and your version is fab! Very pretty and polished as always.

Love this look Suz! You have the essence of Angie's outfit captured beautifully. Your backpack bag is a little playful and unexpected. Nice touch!
