K/R & Review: Club Monaco Grace shorts

Here are the Club Monaco Grace shorts up for review!

In my regular size, there is about 3/4 inch of slouch at the crotch; I have a long rise, so there would be more slouch on someone with a short rise. There is plenty of fabric all around the thigh area, and the fabric itself is absolutely divine -- an Italian tropical weight wool that feels just beautiful and drapes nicely. The fit feels looser than it looks in the pics, but I would call it a roomy tailored fit vs. oversize. There are slant pockets on the side, but they do not obtrude or stick out over my hips. (For reference, my shape is midway between slim hourglass and rectangle and my curves are on the bottom.)

They are much longer on me than on the model (no surprise) so I have inexpertly pinned them. I don't know if this is the right length.

Styled a couple of potential ways. Zara print jacket is also a K/R from my other thread.

Thanks for your views, and hope this helps anyone considering them. They are currently on sale and at the sale price I would call them a super bargain for Club Monaco.

I just bought them too - this colour! High five long shorts twin! They look divine on you, Suz :)

I did size up so that they fit baggier all over - and I am keeping mine the longer length. I bought a citron cropped top to wear with them just for fun.

    I LOVE #1!!

Thanks, Angie! I noticed you had ordered them, too. They wouldn't be as long on you as on me, though, right? I have trouble with "midi" length shorts on me for reasons I don't understand. (I have no problem with a midi length skirt, as you know.) If I shorten them to more or less where I did, is that an okay length, do you think?

One thing I neglected to mention that others might like to know -- they do not have belt loops. So wearing a belt might be tricky.

Yes, shorten and they look great.  Love how you styled them!

You look great in these, and your styling show just how versitle they are. Shorter length is perfect on you cuz you have such fab legs. I want these so bad, wish I was thru with the diet (20lbs) to go, but at that price who cares. What to do what to do?.??

What a score, Suz! They look amazing and in one of your colors to boot. BTW I notice you are getting used to brighter blue colors, before you were thinking that Gap mesh sleeve sweater is too bright :-)

I wish Club Monaco was more generous with sizing - their biggest size is too tight for me, otherwise I would be trying them on too!

    These look great on you!

Love, love them on you! I really kinda like the length in photos 1 & 2. But maybe that's a no-woman's-land in lengths. I guess for shorts, I'd hem them between 1 and 3--i.e., cover the knee, just barely. I'm really loving that length of short.
I like them with all of the tops you've shown here. Just dynamite looks, all of them! Perhaps my faves are 7 and 9, though.

I like them shorter - they look so good on you :) Love them with all the toppers . If I had to pick a fav it would be #7.

Gorgeous fit and colour on you Suz. I prefer the shorter length on you.

  • krishnidoux replied 10 years ago

Suz, these are gorgeous on you. I love all interpretations, but 7-8-9 win my heart. It is crisp and summer-like, a gorgeous colour, and so you! Those are fantastic sandals to wear with them too. I will let the expert on perfect length speak. I do like the longer length in 1 very much.

  • Sanet replied 10 years ago

I really like #7 too. I somehow expected to see your white sneakers in one of the photos and would like to know, for my own future reference, if that could be an option too?

  • Suz replied 10 years ago

I am sure I could wear the sneakers, Sanet! I just didn't want to take off the sandals once I had them on. I was being lazy!  I have other footwear options I can try, too.

The fabric is quite dressy, though -- so searing them with sneakers would be dressing them down, for sure.

These look fantastic, Suz! The color is beautiful, and they look fantastic every way you have them styled. My fav is #7.

  • rae replied 10 years ago

Hm. I'd like to see a size bigger, actually. There is something I don't love about the crotch fit, but I do love the idea of these for you!

  • goldenpig replied 10 years ago

Love the blue shorts on you! #7 is my fave styling--so fresh!

  • carolbee replied 10 years ago

Not a great fan of bermuda shorts but you do make them look good. Forgot to mention on your other thread that I do love the floral jacket on you. The colour way really suits you.

  • Suz replied 10 years ago

Interesting, Rae. I see what you are saying. It didn't seem to look like that in the mirror (but then when does it ever?) ;-) Good observation.

I am having a lazy morning so I am jumping from your pictures to the bottom of the post to just say the shorts are amazing so is the jacket. I hope you are keeping them both. I love all of your stylings!

  • Raisin replied 10 years ago

What a great color!  I may have to snag these!  I love them the way you have them pinned, they look great.

  • Angie replied 10 years ago

I quite like the longer length on you btw :)

  • Elizabeth P replied 10 years ago

Love the shorts on you!  Both lengths, just a different look.  I'm not at all used to shorts this long, like you I am comfortable with a skirt, but shorts feel different.  But I just scored a pair of black ones at Costco, similar length to what you've pinned these to, and want to get my eye to like it on me.  Seeing you helps :)

And of course, these are sold out in my size...  :(
