New Year in Blue

Happy New Year to all.

Last night Mr. Suz and I stayed in, cooked ourselves a nice supper, and watched Netflix. But staying home is no reason not to dress up, right? Right.

It was one of those nights where you try on 6 outfits and nothing feels right. Either the fit was off or the colour felt wrong or the shoes didn't feel right, or who knows what? Even though I wasn't going out and nobody but Mr. Suz and the cat would see me, I was grumpy.

So, back to the FFB blue sheath. This dress never lets me down. Thank you, David Meister.

I admit I put on loungewear for the movie. ;)

ETA: New Year's Resolution -- get the DSLR back from DD and take pictures with that instead of my phone!

Wow, what a nice look for an evening at home! Love it! I really like the way the silver shoes pop with the dark hose. I wouldn't have thought to do that.

Wow! You look gorgeous and I am impressed at your staying-in outfit! Happy new year!

The dress is very simple and nice, also with silver accessories!! Great look.  Have a good year : )

You look fab Suz! Happy New Year! I am joining you in your New Year's Resolution - figure out better picture taking (so I don't have to do it right at the door of my work building's bathroom!)

    Gorgeous dress!
    How was your supper?
SO and I did much the same thing (we had ribs!) but I didn't think to dress up! Oops!

  • JAileen replied 7 years ago

I had the same response as Smittie - you look gorgeous. We did the same but I wore jeans and fleece! And it's our anniversary, too.

  • Maneera replied 7 years ago

Got to love a dress that NEVER lets you down!!! You look beautiful in the dress, Suz. I love the silver shoes & the dangly earrings :)

PS: My NYE was ditto same, but I didn't bother to dress up **hides her face** But, in my defense, I am down with the flu and also caring for an unwell puppy, so loungewear was just what I needed. I did wear new velvet loungewear pants in a wine color with a matching fleece sweatshirt though!

Happy New Year, Mr.&Mrs. Suz!-) It's so great to have a FFBO for the dressy events, too and I know what you say about feelin' grumpy (and so not our own self) after trying half of an (otherwise well curated) wardrobe still,  insisting on making it work even if nobody else than cohosts  can see the actual outfit(and I especially avoided the word "notice":-)).
The Meister dress is gorgeous and made it again.-)

Beautiful! I love the dangly earrings and shiny shoes. We had another family over for dinner and drinks. The kids watched movies and the adults played silly card games.

You look wonderful - it sounds like a lovely evening..

What a beautiful outfit! How great to have a fallback dress like that. This outfit is a little bit like Angie's modern retro holiday outfit, just in the silver version rather than hers in gold. It is so PERFECT for you!

Mr Chris and I are still trying to get back on EST but are not succeeding yet so early to bed on NYE..:-)

I love that you dressed at home! Like the good ol days! I started a Downton Abbey marathon for NYE. I miss the going through after supper, hehe.

Wow another knockout to welcome in the new year. I like rhe sliver shoe as a pop.

  • replied 7 years ago

Very pretty - and so nice to do this for each other even for  "Just at home" date.  Happy New Year!   Did you do navy tights with the dress?

  • gradfashionista replied 7 years ago

Very elegant. And heels inside the house! --I salute your commitment to looking dressy.

  • Suz replied 7 years ago

Chris, you are so right!! I unconsciously mimicked Angie. I hope she won't mind! I didn't even think of it at the time; I just thought (after trying a bunch of other combinations), "Oh bother. Well, I always know that sparkly earrings and my blue dress make me feel great!" Even that is sort of similar to her process (though she was more positive about it) because she ruled out a bunch of other options before going for the simple ladylike choice.

If I had gone out, I guess I would have worn my beautiful cranberry red coat or my new lilac one -- probably the red -- which has a foldover neckline that is a bit similar to Angie's!!

Thanks for the kind comments, all, and no need to feel guilty about not dressing up if you did not. It's just a little game I like to play with myself to get more wear out of my dressy clothes, which I truly love. Maneera, I love the sounds of those lounge pants!!!  Smittie, we had a rack of lamb with mustard/ panko/ parmesan coating, creamy mashed potatoes with leeks, and sugar snap peas, with walnut cookies and oranges for dessert. Yum!

LIsaP --- hose were sheer black because I thought I was wearing something else and once I had the darn things on I wasn't taking them off. ;) But it was okay.

  • Joyce B replied 7 years ago

That's a beautiful outfit! Have a Happy New Year, Suz!

Lol- aren't hose the worst ? They look fine - I was just curious because I couldn't make it out on my phone screen ;) Your menu sounded fantastic too ! Sorry you were in a less - than- great state though ...

We all need a dress that never let us down! You look gorgeous and I love how the silver shoes bookend your hair. Yummy menu :-)

So lovely, Suz.  I am glad you made the effort to dress up.  Dressing up always marks the occasion as special, even if you are staying home with your best man and best cat.

  • Bijou replied 7 years ago

Mr Suz is a lucky man, gorgeous wife and yummy dinner. What a great way to start 2017.

  • Karie replied 7 years ago

You look gorgeous! We had a PJ's & Pizza party at my house. Just me, DH, MIL, our two dogs and her one dog.

  • Style Fan replied 7 years ago

You look gorgeous.  Great dress.  We wore lounge wear and had a simple dinner.  We went out for lunch.

  • unfrumped replied 7 years ago

Super fab dress. It is the holy grail dress for me. One day may find.
I probably am not as likely to REALLY dress up, but I'm being more mindful of what comfy yet more elegant options I might have for special evenings. Usually I want something washable for cooking, eating, but I could use some if me better knitwear, including some dresses with tights. Footwear is an issue - slippers?! But in winter it's possible to use some kind of intentional juxtaposed soft slipper - boot.

  • Jaime replied 7 years ago

Gorgeous! (Being a new year's grump I did not stay up - and haven't since I was in college.)

  • Sisi replied 7 years ago

You look fabulous, too bad you did not go out to get some admired looks! Both the dress and the silver shoes are beautiful. The dress-that-never-lets-you-down is on my wishlist since ... years. I used to have one in the Nineties, a blue silk dress that fit me like a glove and was perfect in every occasion. I loved this dress so dearly that I still have it - it's still hanging in an old closet, with a small moth-hole and ... too small of 2 sizes!

Wow, that sounds like a delicious spread!

I'm impressed you dressed up for a stay at home evening.

  • Lisa replied 7 years ago

Happy New Year!  I never would have known you struggled to get dressed from looking at this outfit.  It's lovely on you!

  • Summer replied 7 years ago

I like your thinking - and your dress - Suz.
