What I bought...

My colour for the year is red. The new items is labeled "Magenta" but it counts as red in my book.

If I'd had my matching cardigan with me on this short cross-the-strait trip, I'd have been able to go with the "pattern squared" theme of today's blog -- but as it is, I only have one piece with me. The other is in the Finds.

With holidays off the table, I'm going to explore my new island home on an e-bike. Was lucky enough to get one of the very last of these in my size and looking forward to renewing my love of biking.

:) Great complement to your wardrobe.

This morning, my husband and I were huffing and puffing up a hill on our bikes (mine is a 30YO mountain bike) and a middle aged woman easily passed me.  Stopped at the next stop sign, she told me it was an ebike.  It really looked like fun.  Of course, I’m riding my bike for exercise, so there’s that.  I hope you have fun.  You look great, too.

    Congratulation, Suz!  She’s a beauty!

Nice! You look wonderful. My color is red for this year, too, but I wear warm reds. I love spin classes at the gym, but can’t go right now due to the pandemic.

    Pretty outfit!

JAileen, there are different kinds of e-bikes (and different rules about what types are legal depending on your area). This bike is pedal assist -- no throttle. I can ride it as a regular bike (which I will do a lot of the time) or I can add an assist for hills or extra speed. I live in a very hilly area and I want to be sure I can go on journeys without fear of the trip home (mostly uphill).

Gorgeous! Serious bike envy. Getting my turquoise Specialized out tomorrow!

Great idea Suz, and you look fantastic!

FABULOUS new red accessory, and you look great in those sporty shorts!

  • unfrumped replied 3 years ago

I love the colors in the print.

Had started thinking about e- bike also but only in pre- contemplation phase. Very hilly here though I could carry a regular bike in my truck to flatter areas. I haven’t really enjoyed biking due to the hills, since years ago growing up in a “ flat” city

Great idea!  Exploring the island on an ebike sounds like so much fun.  Your shorts are perfect for the occasion.

Oh that will be so much fun , and such great exercise ! Love those shorts too - really need to look at some for next summer . ( why am I talking about this summer like it’s already over ? ) . I do admire your ability to take a certain look and just own it .

This outfit is GORGEOUS. Wow do I like it!

An ebike is a great idea!

  • Eliza replied 3 years ago

Great look for your sure to be perfect days. Have fun on that beautiful bike.

  • Staysfit replied 3 years ago

What fun!  I would love to see a coordinating safety helmet.  I have not seen any e bikes where I live but some help from a motor would be nice.  I am afraid to take my bike out on our steep hilly roads so it sits on a trainer in my basement.  I have some biking shorts but no helmet...... the only traffic is DH walking on the treadmill a few feet away!  :-)

  • Brooklyn replied 3 years ago

Excellent! How fantastic that you could get it in your preferred colour. Here there was a run on bikes and indoor sports gear during the lockdown. Love your outfit too. That top is fab!

  • Gail replied 3 years ago

Such a great idea, enjoy exploring and looking so great doing it .

  • replied 3 years ago

*carries off the ebike :) *

  • kkards replied 3 years ago

Nice! Hope you also got a fab helmet (preferably a MIPS one)

  • karen13 replied 3 years ago

Fancy! You will have many adventures! Looking stylish as always. And very cute biking gear.

  • Suz replied 3 years ago

So, the helmet (yes, a MIPS) is SILVER. With magenta bits inside. :)

Brooklyn, there was (and is) a MAJOR run on bikes and other sports equipment here, as well, and I was very lucky to find this bike and model. It was the only one in southern BC that I could find. None of my local stores had one. Several stores in Vancouver listed it as in stock but did not get back to me for an appointment to view it. (Shopping for bikes is only by personal appointment right now). Bike shops are crazy busy as people catch on to the idea that they may not be travelling.

  • Jaime replied 3 years ago

The top was made for you and the bike is just perfect for your lifestyle!

  • nemosmom replied 3 years ago

How wonderful, Suz! Enjoy your new bike and adventures in your new town! What a stylish way to explore ;)

  • Laurie replied 3 years ago

My husband wants an ebike so badly...keep us posted on your adventures.
    You look amazing, as ever!

  • Beth Ann replied 3 years ago

I love this, Suz!  I visited your island home as a 12 year old. It was magical then, and I'm sure it's even more beautiful now.  My bike is in the shop getting a tune-up. No e-bike, but then, this is central Indiana...........

I love printed cardis and bold florals, so I love the outfit!

  • Glory replied 3 years ago

Fabulous purchase! I love mine - it is also a pedal assist. When I picked it up I had people lining up and asking if they could try it out. It was in hot demand and difficult to find in a size that was correct.

  • Becky replied 3 years ago

That’s a gorgeous biking outfit! That floral print is just glorious. And I love that your shorts are dressy while still being very practical for biking.
