WIW: "Bomber" and midi pencil skirt

Well, I never managed to get on the bomber bandwagon. So I don't own one. But I do own a midi pencil skirt and a relaxed topper -- my cashmere hoodie, courtesy of the beautiful and gracious Mo!! I'll tell you, that is a gift that keeps on giving. In her hot climate, cashmere didn't get so much wear. But in mine? You be the judge.

Navy VC midi tube skirt
J. Crew kitty print blouse (thanks, Diana!)
Zara booties
Nude hose because it's early spring here.
and cashmere "bomber"

This is post and run because I have a big meeting....

You look fab, Suz! Now you've reminded me that I can wear my own cashmere hoodie with this ensemble. What a great idea! I really like the black skirt/booties combo with this.

  • greenglove replied 10 years ago

Love this Suz- you are a vision in blue and cream.
The skirt fits so well- I have the same one!
    Love those Zara booties!

  • Golden replied 10 years ago

The colors in your outfit are great! Love the skirt and the booties

  • Lisa replied 10 years ago

This outfit echos today's ensemble perfectly, and it looks nice and cozy too.

  • Emily replied 10 years ago

Love this take on today's ensemble!  What I notice is how very fab you look in a not-conventionally-flattering midi skirt, "bare" legs, and higher-cut booties.  Do the booties have a bit of height to the shaft, or are you wearing socks?  Either way, it looks a bit edgy and very 2014 to me.

  • Angie replied 10 years ago

    Wow. Very 2014. Killer.

You nailed it the Suz way. I love how your specs bookend your booties. Brilliant look. Rock on special lady. xo

  • carter replied 10 years ago

Very nice! Love that blouse on you too...what a great color!

  • AviaMariah replied 10 years ago

I love the blue color of your blouse and how you've added the booties. :)

  • Mo replied 10 years ago

Funny, I was just thinking, I don't really have a bomber to do this . . . and here you are subbing beautifully.  Love that you are getting so much wear from the hoodie!

  • kellygirl replied 10 years ago

This is perfect, Suz! I'm taking notes. YLF!

  • Erikajl replied 10 years ago

I'm so glad to see how a midi can actually look great IRL. You look terrific.

  • rae replied 10 years ago

Totally awesome!! Hey, I think the hoodie may add some of the edge you had been wanting in your style without going too drapey/avant garde. Just a thought - regardless, love this whole look on you!

  • Neel replied 10 years ago

Wow!! Hoodie and midi :) ... Gorgeous outfit! Are you wearing socks Suz?

  • Suz replied 10 years ago

Thank you all! It is a fun outfit to wear -- as comfy as PJs (except for having to wear nude hose....)

Emily, Neel -- these are not socks. The booties (from Zara) have a neoprene top to them.

Rae, that's an interesting insight about the hoodie. Hmmmm.

  • texstyle replied 10 years ago

Looks great Suz!  I agree with rae about the slight edge of the hoodie with this outfit.

  • replied 10 years ago

What a fab version of todays ensemble. You look great!

  • merwoman replied 10 years ago

Smashing look! Hip and comfy...and flattering, it's a winner :-)

  • Karie replied 10 years ago

Wow - I LOVE your version of today's ensemble post. That kitty print J.Crew blouse is gorgeous, and the hoodie looks fantastic with your outfit. I also bookend with my glasses - although I forgot to swap them out today, so it's brown glasses with black footwear *sigh* hopefully the second graders won't notice!

  • Debra replied 10 years ago

You look fabulous, a great outfit. I love the way the hoodie softens this look and those booties are stunning :)

  • Sarah A replied 10 years ago

Great intrpretation of Angie's formula. Love you in the booties and hoodie ... the two items are such a great polished/relaxed compliment and foil to each other thus elevating the look to perfection.

  • Kiwichik replied 10 years ago

Oooohhhh this looks great - love the boots

  • Suz replied 10 years ago

Karie, I have found that bookending with glasses is one great reason to wear them! I hope your second graders understand that black and brown are no longer a fashion faux pas when worn together.  :)

Thanks, all. And thanks to Angie as usual for the Friday inspiration!

  • Sussi3 replied 10 years ago

this look is awesome. love it!!!

  • Phatgranny replied 10 years ago

So cute -- love your interpretation of today's ensemble!

  • Lyn D. replied 10 years ago

    This is cute Suz!
I too thought you were very cool to wear sox in this way till I read further- love the boots.

  • Beth Ann replied 10 years ago

So glad to be reminded that we can be inspired by an ensemble and pull off a great variation without having every item in our closet.

    Love navy and cream!

  • Caro in Oz replied 10 years ago

Fab outfit - love the colours :)

  • pil replied 10 years ago

Nice interpretation, Suz, silk and cashmere - yum. The blues of that shirt are so nice on you.

  • cciele replied 10 years ago

Wow, this is brilliant, the swapping of the bomber for a hoodie (and cashmere, at that). Well done!

  • Nicole D replied 10 years ago

I am feeling the bomber vibe.  Nice skirt on you too.

  • Aida replied 10 years ago

Oh Suz you look super! I love the cashmere hoodie in place of the bomber, that is a fab substitution and looks even more luxe paired with the silk. Now I am really thinking I should look into getting a midi knit tube skirt...

(Also, I have this cutie kitty blouse too /highfive! The shade of blue is gorgeous, isn't it? I almost wore it today but it was cooler than expected so I changed into a heavier top.)

  • Suz replied 10 years ago

Aida!! We are triplets! Tanya also has this top.

I got it on Diana's recommendation and I could not be happier with it. It's just lovely.

I now have TWO Siamese kitty tops (one like Rae and MaryK's, and this one.)

There was a great Anthro one, too, that Peri tried. I loved it but knew the black, red, white would be too much contrast for me. I'll bet it would have looked great on you.

  • Aida replied 10 years ago

Suz I cannot tell you how happy I am to hear that I'm not the only one with multiple kitty tops (and yay for triplets with Tanya)! I also have the periwinkle BF button-up from the GAP from last season, so not only do I have two but I have two in similar colorways. Hm that Anthro one does sound like something I'd wear. Three kitty tops is still an OK number, right? ;)

  • Suz replied 10 years ago

Three is a totally cool number. And in your case, I do think four would be perfectly okay. Not to enable or anything, but here is the link .

    Great sale price. :)

  • Aida replied 10 years ago

WELL now that is a lovely blouse! Appears to be sold out, I wonder if any of the stores near me would still have it. Although, it looks like it runs long so perhaps the petite version would fit. Hmm, hmm...

  • karymk replied 10 years ago

Suz, it's a great WIW.  Does your skirt stay in place? I love the midi on you.  Looks comfortable.

  • Transcona Shannon replied 10 years ago

Love this Suz! The cashmere hoodie is a great bomber substitution and aren't those VC tube skirts worth their weight in gold?

I think I might need a kitty blouse...

  • Suz replied 10 years ago

Karen, the skirt works great. It's best without hose but these ones work okay. It's totally stretchy, made of a jersey knit. So very comfy. Lots of us have these, by Vince Camuto. (Inexpensive, too -- I own three).

Shannon, Gain would approve a kitty blouse for you. And they have those Anthro ones in petite on sale!!

  • K. Period. replied 10 years ago

(I'm the quad!)  Hellooooooo Kitty Shirt Sissstah!  You look beautiful.  I can't get over how well this works for all of us.   I've got to get in gear and wear mine with my pencil skirt.  You make it look like perfection.

  • Aida replied 10 years ago

I totally bit and ordered a range of petite sizes that may or may not work. The size I think I'd need is sold out in both regular and petite (which rarely work for me anyway), so we'll see. Thanks for the link, I've got my fingers crossed!

  • Suz replied 10 years ago

Ooh! I love being an enabler! I hope it works!

And K.P. how could I forget you? Mea culpa. You were my other inspiration to buy this!!

  • replied 10 years ago

    awesome combo!

  • catgirl replied 10 years ago

Suz, you look fantastic.  Of course.  Great use of a cashmere hoodie!

  • Gigi replied 10 years ago

Just lovely! I really like the juxtaposition of these elements. Body-con/conservative skirt meets laid-back/fluid shirt and hoodie. And the glasses look fab too and are an integral part of the outfit.

  • fathenry replied 10 years ago

Love it! You look amazing. I want to try this look out!

  • Lantana replied 10 years ago

More applause from me. The hoodie substituion is inspired.

  • Janet replied 10 years ago

Leave it to you to make a midi pencil skirt look effortless! The hoodie definitely works, and it's nice to see that adorable blouse again.

  • viva replied 10 years ago

I love this on you, Suz. It's making me think about wearing my cashmere hoodie this way, and about looking at that kitty top, and about how much I miss you ..... :)

  • Parsley replied 10 years ago

    Very cool and casual, Suz,
Great idea to substitute your cashmere hoodie for the bomber!

  • NDMom replied 10 years ago

Suz, how do you do it? I love your interpretation of Angie's post AND how easily and effortlessly you make looks your own and then look this stunning!

  • Jaime replied 10 years ago

You look fantastic and agree this was a great use of the inspiration ensemble.

  • sarah replied 10 years ago

Terrific, Suz. That shade of blue is so lovely on you.

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 10 years ago

Great outfit and an inventive interpretation! I was inspired by Angie's post, but the bomber jacket and pencil skirt I have in mind to try are too wintery for the weather here right now. But I have a lighter weight hoodie that I might be able to style as a bomber. (Oh, but no pencil skirt to go with it, oops!)
