WIW for Thanksgiving with my mum...plus her outfit

I SO wish my mum would have let me take her picture, but you'll have to use your imagination. Note, she has silver white hair and rose-gold glasses.

She wore:

A silver, blue, white, and black paisley blouse in satin I'd bought her about five years ago.
Grey trousers
A purple and black tweed jacket from Laura Petites
A purple, fuchsia, blue, silver, white "cocktail" ring
Pearl earrings and pearls
Pink nail polish

The blouse showed a bit below the jacket and at the neckline for a really interesting and unexpected pattern and texture mix

The only thing missing was the booties that she still wants...but probably really shouldn't wear, at least not with the heel she keeps talking about! (I have heard mutterings about stilettos....don't forget she is 87 and broke her ankle and foot last year!)

My outfit was a lot less interesting by comparison. But you see, these taupes are getting a LOT of wear, as is Mary K's wonder scarf. For which I am endlessly thankful.

Apologies for the wet hair!

Suz your mum's outfit sounds just gorgeous. The pattern mixing and the textures make it sound very luxurious. I love that she wants some booties, what about flat booties? I actually see quite a lot of "mature" ladies wearing ankle boots.

And Suz your outfit is lovely too. The burst of color with the taupe is lovely.

I love how taupe is becoming your signature and the scarf is going to be signature #2! You look fab!

You look so fab! I love that scarf on you, especially with the taupe.

Your outfit is great Suz! I love the sound of your mom's outfit! She would look adorable in booties. Maybe you can convince her that Angie says that flat booties are really modern? My grandma (who is a bit over 90) would kill for a pair of stilettos! lol --keep in mind she uses a walker. She sure misses being able to wear fun shoes! Anyway, your mom sounds like she looked really stylish!

You must have gotten some good fashion genes from your mom. Her outfit sounds so creative and fun. I love your outfit. The taupe and wonder scarf give you the look of a sunny crisp autumn day. The bit of blue sleeve lining peeking out is a special touch. Thank you for sharing.

Your Mum sounds worthy of a profile on AdvancedStyle. As for you - love the mix of tweed, patterned scarf & berry coloured top. Not o mention the great boots.

Suz, you look STUNNING! SPECTACULAR! STELLAR! I can't love you enough in this color combination. Are those the Joust booties? They look darker here but are still just perfect.

Your mum sounds delightful and lovely too.

I love your outfit, Suz, and I'll bet your mother is a knockout, just like her daughter.

You are killing me with all this taupe fabness! I never thought taupe could be such a fun colour. Is the blazer new?
Your mom must be looking as fab as you are in her grey trousers and tweed jacket and oh my fuschia cocktail ring and pink nails.

Love it. Love it all. And I love even more that you are owning taupe as your color. You go, girl! :)

  • krishnidoux replied 11 years ago

You were both very stylish! I admire the fit of this outfit. Perfect. And what a good idea to wear it with the booties!

And the scarf is truly beautiful on you.

  • Suz replied 11 years ago

    Thanks, all!

Mona, the jacket is not new. I got it last year from the consignment store and it cost me $7. It is made by Guess.

And Una, those are the Joust booties. They seem to change colour a bit with the light -- maybe that is why they are called "smog."

Love, love, love this combo Suz - as you knew I would! Isn't our skirt fabulous? It's amazing how well that jacket and skirt work together. They almost look like a suit. And I adore the darker magenta with the taupe - need to try that combo myself.

I totally thought this was a taupe suit at first! You and Mum must have made a beautiful pair on Thanksgiving. I hope she gets some comfy flat (safe!) booties. Your whole outfit is so pleasing to the eye, and the taupe hose are the most perfect shade.

Suz, just sneak a pic next time with your Iphone...(My mom is tech challenged, I might be able to slip that one by her! LOL)

  • Mochi replied 11 years ago

    You look beautiful, Suz!

  • Suz replied 11 years ago

Kim, believe it or not, I tried it, but she had her hands up in front of her face before I could get it done!! I don't know why she was so hesitant...she was a little bit freaked out about the pattern mix idea. The outfit sort of came together because that's what she had. My brother and I loved it, but she wasn't so sure.

Oh, I love that mother of yours. I plan to be wearing heels with my walker, when the time comes. Has she seen any of the wedge booties? Maybe she can get the lift that she wants and the sure footedness that you want for her?

  • Angie replied 11 years ago

You look so fresh and pretty in this outfit, Suz. I love it on you! Arty and a little more casual than your usual pencil skirt looks.

And Mum's outfit sounds just delightful. Booties for Christmas?
