WIW: No Repeat November, Final Week (plus)

Here are the outfits I wore in the last week plus of our challenge. I apologize for the photography in some of these. I had to do a quick re-enactment of a few because I hadn't had the SIM card in the camera a couple of days. GAH.

Pic 1: Friday (you've seen this in another thread).

Pic 2: Saturday. This Kamalikulture dress isn't really in regular rotation right now because it feels too body con with tights and isn't really warm enough. But for an indoor evening with Mr. Suz watching MadMen, it was just fine.

Pic 3: Sunday. One of the last outings of the white jeans for a while (given current weather conditions here).

Pic 4: Monday.

Pics 5-6: Tuesday - the day the snow arrived. Hair appointment and the first outing of my charcoal knee high boots. LOVE them. Comfortable, stable, and work with a skirt. I look very wide in this photo in the middle -- that is due to camera angle.

PIc. 7: Wednesday. I was indoors the entire day (snow day).

Pic. 8: Thursday. Layering a sweater over a button up silk shirt. This shirt is too strong in pattern for me on its own -- these are all "my" neutrals but read as too intense in a large block. But I like it for a glimpse under a sweater or jacket.

Pic 9: Friday. Trip to the dentist. Wearing my other new winter boots and my DL 1961 legging jeans. I'm generally "off" legging jeans, but they are so useful for snowy days, tucking into boots, and wow, these ones are fantastic. They are thick, substantial, with 4 way stretch. They do not bag out. I get compliments on them every time I wear them.

Pic. 10: Casual supper at a friend's house.

This was an interesting experiment. I learned a lot! Thank you, Mo, for initiating it. More reflections to follow!

My goodness, your stay at home wear is more polished than my out and about wear!  You look fabulous in all of these.  The dress in #2 is stunning; I hope husband appreciated it!

  • deb replied 10 years ago

    Great looks , Suz.

  • Susie replied 10 years ago

You have a great knack for putting together outfits with such flair. Well done; you look fab!

I'm glad that the new boots are working well for you. I bet it feels good to have finally found your perfect boots. Beautiful AND practical is a rare but wonderful find.

I love the way you watch Mad Men with Mr. Suz. You win Best Dressed TV Watching Award of the Century.

And of course, you have an incredible sense of style. I have so enjoyed watching you evolve, analyze, and get on with it, Suz. You are fab both inside and out. A true style champion who glows from within.

Your grey boots came! Yay! They are really gorgeous. I love all your outfits with a special note for # 3 - polka dots and white jeans just have my heart!
I am always wowed by your work from home style: it is so easy for me to get sloppy looking when I don't go anywhere, you are my hero and role model! Do you also wear boots indoors at home?
Your snow came on Tuesday? You had it easier that us here: ours came last Saturday with vengeance: major snow storm in November!

  • Mo replied 10 years ago

ooh, good to hear about the DL 1961.  I have spied some in my white jean hunt.  Cute to wear the dress to watch Mad Men at home! :)

  • Suz replied 10 years ago

Yes, our snow was slower to come, Sveta! We got some flurries earlier but nothing that stayed. Tuesday night was the big event. And thank you for the compliments.

I don't usually wear my footwear in the house -- usually I'll wear slippers. But I like to show the footwear in my pictures anyway because that is what people do see when I go out. :)

Also, occasionally I will wear my shoes in our kitchen. It doesn't have a basement (just a crawl space) and the floor can get very cold. So if we are entertaining guests we don't ask them to remove their shoes. And in that case I will wear my own.

Angie, thank you - your sweet words are very encouraging!

Susie, Deb, MG - thank you! That KK dress is like wearing PJs, really -- SO comfy!!

  • Suz replied 10 years ago

Mo, I got these at an after Christmas sale (Boxing day, it's like Black Friday for Canadians) a couple of years back. I don't know if all their jeans are made of this fabric, but I think they are the best quality legging jeans I have ever seen.

  • Jewell replied 10 years ago

The charcoal boots are fab, fab, fab! I'm always inspired by your denim ensembles- you're the queen of casual chic!

  • Aubergine replied 10 years ago

The dress in #2 looks amazing on you! And that's just a great week of outfits.

  • E replied 10 years ago

5/6 made me squeal! Those boots are so fabulous! And I think they're light enough to bring some balance to your winter bottoms (um, bottom portion of your outfits might be a better way to phrase that?). Just perfection!

All of your other outfits are fab too, which comes as no surprise. :)

  • minimalist replied 10 years ago

You're my inspiration for work-from-home fabuliciousness, Suz.

And let's hear it for dressing up for a sofa date with the SO!

  • Gaylene replied 10 years ago

I love your decision to wear that dress to watch Mad Men, Suz! Your outfits this week prove the point that Angie keeps making over and over that "comfy" doesn't have to be synonymous with PJs or yoga pants.

I left a comment in PeaceChick's thread about my super-frugal grandmother who, despite her parsimonious nature towards her clothes, always felt it was important to wear "good" clothes in public because what you wore in public was all about maintaining your family's good name (a rather quaint notion, I'm thinking in today's world). I'm positive that everyone in your dentist's office was probably awarding you "Best Dressed Patient" honors when you left. Your family's good name is in safe hands with you, Suz!

You look fantastic as usual.  I love all your wardrobe pieces and how you put them together.

  • MsMary replied 10 years ago

I just have to echo everything Angie said!  You are so fab I can hardly stand it!  :)

  • Alassë replied 10 years ago

I have a soft spot for polka dots; your charcoal boots look just right on you; those are very nice looking legging jeans; and I love the entire turtleneck + pearls + sleek leggings/boots outfit on you!

  • Runcarla replied 10 years ago

Just looking at #3 makes me happy.

  • Parsley replied 10 years ago

Suz, every one of these outfits is wonderful!
I still love the simplicity of #1, and think it needs to get out more. The same for that gorgeous Kamalikulture dress! If it feels too body con, what about layering a jacket over it?
Your new boots are both fabulous. The gray ones are a great change for the usual black.

So, I'm curious: were you finding the challenge difficult by the end of the month? If so, I sure wouldn't know it. Not one of your outfits feels forced- they all at least have the appearance of ones that you could easily put in regular rotation.

ETA: It's sad to see those white jeans take the winter off. They look wonderful on you. You're inspiring me to put together a winter outfit with mine!

  • TraceyLiz65 replied 10 years ago

All of these are absolute winners! Love the grey boots!

  • Suz replied 10 years ago

Thanks all! I feel happy about the grey boots. They might not get much wear in any given winter, but I predict I'll have them for at least 5 years. They won't date much.

Marcy, the KK dress feels too body con with tights -- they make it more clingy. Plus, it's not warm enough -- even with a jacket -- for our current outdoor temps. But it will get lots of play in the transitional months and also on these stay home nights. I swear it's as comfy as PJs, and since Mr. Suz and I regularly have an "at home" date night to watch movies and just hang out, it's the perfect thing. Loungewear that looks like actual clothing. :)

I didn't find it difficult to put outfits together for the challenge and none of these was "forced" in the sense that they were something I would never actually wear. I was running out of possibilities, though, towards the end, and did feel a bit bored. More on that in a separate post.

    Thanks again, all!

#9 took my breath away. What fantastic outfits!

  • replied 10 years ago

Suz, these are delicious outfit selections, and I must say you are looking terrific! The outfit with the over-sized sweater and red booties looks different to me than the first time you posted it. This time my eye went right to the hem of the sweater, where I noticed how slim your hips are. I often feel like proportions are "in the eye of the beholder" in these situations. People are all going to notice different things when they look at you. I'm not sure I ever noticed how slim your hips are before, probably because you usually don't draw a horizontal line right there, for other reasons.

I really like the dotted sweater with the white jeans because the white created medium contrast with your low-contrast, medium toned sweater. Bye-bye white jeans, until the sidewalks are dry again. I love your new grey boots SO much! I'm glad the issue was resolved and you held out for what you really wanted, You look lovely in all shades of grey; the coat is fabulous! I miss my leopard scarf. I should have been smart like you and held onto mine. I can't wait to read your next post. Like a good author, you always keep us in suspense! :)

  • Ornella replied 10 years ago

This is what you wear when watching Mad Men??? Mad, man!

The rest is amazing and I am enjoying the variety so much. Everything is simply you. Special l-o-v-e for the necklace and the shirt peeking out in #9 - watch out for that inspired by outfit soon.

  • replied 10 years ago

Gorgeous, Suz! I love seeing your combinations of outfits, and your charcoal boots are lovely.

  • Karie replied 10 years ago

OK Suz, I simply must invest in a crash helmet for when I view your posts (she says as she picks herfself up off the floor). Too. Fab. For. Words. And you wear a dress while watching TV (she asks as she crawls to the closet in shame and hides the sweat pants)? WOW.
It's so hard to choose, but my fav is #8 - is that your LLBean sweater? I've been wanting to get one, but they don't have it in our local store and I'm not sure about sizing so I haven't ordered one on-line. And I will have to check out the DL 1961 legging jeans - I wear my Old Navy Diva's for tucking into boots and running errands, but they do bag out a bit.

  • Suz replied 10 years ago

Thanks everyone -- you are too kind. Truly, the Kamalikulture dress really does feel like PJs. Ask Angie! She will back me up on it. There is nothing more comfy than those dresses, even though (on me) they are a bit body con. (I think on Angie it glides pretty well....I am a bit between sizes as the next size up would probably be too big.)

Anyway...Karie -- that sweater is from Banana Republic last year and is a bit famous here on YLF. It was an Angie pick and Ariadne, Claire, and several more of us quickly bought it. It's divine to wear -- super soft and lovely -- but it did pill and show the wear quite quickly. I'm wearing it a lot this year because I think it will be its final season.

  • Lisa replied 10 years ago

A gorgeous week to end the challenge.  My favorite is the skirt with the grey boots and the last outfit with the pink striped top.  It looks like your winter wardrobe shifts to darker colors and lots of black, just like mine does.  And I'd love to see #9 with a longer necklace, the short one really draws the eye to the turtleneck style, a long one may give a long line to the eye.  That's a really pretty white necklace in #9, looks perfect to peek out from a button down shirt.

  • Angela K replied 10 years ago

I have to agree that the dress is totally fab on you. But the other outfits are awesome as well.   I am ashamed to say that my around the house, lounge attire is mainly pjs and VS sweats!  Oh well, I can aspire to look as good as you while watching TV! :)
