WIW: Pink and Olive, at last

Well, it only took me four months to come up with a version. :)

In truth, I own almost nothing olive. I do have a pair of the GAP broken in straight khakis from last year...but in February it was too way too cold to wear those here. Plus, I don't really like them on me. (Perhaps I will seek styling assistance before finally passing them along.)

But, lo and behold, we have a genuinely warm day here. Not only that, but my daughter has outgrown her GAP boyfriend shorts from last year. I spied an opportunity.

Shorts and belt: GAP
Shoes: Angie pick from last year, Reiker
Linen boatneck Tee: J. Crew

In the interests of keeping it real, also shown with my double-plus-uncool walking shoes. They are betwixt and between, not Normcore enough to be trendy. But they have arch support for my feet that otherwise detest flats and I can walk in them with my fussy, hike-brutalized feet. Too much hiking on steep hills in Banff hacked up my toes....tough problem to have, I know. ;)

Oh so gorgeous! Great casual outfit and still so polished. Sorry to hear about your toes. Aren't hand me downs great?!

  • UmmLila replied 6 years ago

But it turned out really well, after that!  The pink color really suits you. And you might as well enjoy shorts during the brief season for them.

I just did a version of the business casual capsule Angie did in March yesterday (taupe leather blazer, fuchsia top and grey skinnies) ... <http://youlookfab.com/2014/03/.....or-spring/

I planned to take a picture after I got home from the Village School Pancake Breakfast, but I got a black fly bite on my forehead and was trying to avoid mirrors by that point..

Love the pink with olive shorts. Great summer look.

Annnnndddd you nailed it! Fabulous! I especially love the shoes with this outfit. It's so much fun :)

  • unfrumped replied 6 years ago

    Wonderful!

  • lyn* replied 6 years ago

Adorable! I used to have an outfit like this ... I am so ahead of the curve.

    PINK AND OLIVE!

  • Suz replied 6 years ago

Lyn, you look so fab in that! I love a photo in the wild!

Ummilia, I would love to see your outfit! But I totally hear you on avoiding cameras while contending with facial ...er...irrregularities.

  • Astrid replied 6 years ago

That color combination is fantastic (and still a bit unexpected). You look great, Suz! I hope your poor toes get better soon.

  • replied 6 years ago

I absolutely love this! What a lovely combo and I admit to being very jealous of your toned legs!

  • Alassë replied 6 years ago

I really like your belt + shorts colour combo. Have we seen that belt before?

  • Eliza replied 6 years ago

You look terrific. And the outfit totally works! Nice to have shorts weather.

  • Ornella replied 6 years ago

    I haven't plonked in a while.

Such great outfit. Olive and pink suits you so well. No surprises I guess, I'm smitten by the addition of the red belt, and what a perfect match with those sandals, I'm happy to see them again.

  • replied 6 years ago

Great look! I don't mind your walking shoes at all.

  • Debra replied 6 years ago

You look fabulous, I love how olive works as a neutral with light colours and the berry belt is a perfect unexpected touch. :)

  • Gracie replied 6 years ago

Oh, I love the colors, proportions and specially, the fit of the items. Must try to copy! The Reikers look fab.

  • Suz replied 6 years ago

Thanks, all. The belt is actually berry colour and is an older one from my collection -- just a GAP belt. I tend to hang onto belts rather than purging because you never know when they will come in handy.

  • Cindy S replied 6 years ago

Great combo Suz! Very flattering pink, it gives you a lovely glow! And the shorts are perfect with it...nice to have a daughter who shares!

  • Angie replied 6 years ago

I love that shade of bubblegum pink, Suz. It's perfect with the olive. Nice bits of cherry peeking through too. Great casual look on a hot day.

And those Gap shorts look fabulous on all who try them on - you are right there with those sassy ladies. Daughters come in handy don't they. xo

  • catgirl replied 6 years ago

    Absolutely gorgeous!

  • Mona replied 6 years ago

Love the addition of red belt to this ensemble and you look positively radiant in that pink. How fun that you can exchange clothes with your daughter.

  • rabbit replied 6 years ago

Love this, love the unexpected pairing of pink and burgundy and those sandals look quite good to me.

  • Zibbets replied 6 years ago

    So fresh and fab!

  • dashielle (Ann) replied 6 years ago

Knockout punch Suz! Gonna have to try and pair these colors myself, now that I see your take!

  • TraceyLiz65 replied 6 years ago

Thjis is too funny as I had a pink shirt in my hand yesterday and said I needed to do a Summer version of Angle's formula and went and found an olive skirt!  It's hanging in my closet as an option for when I need something quick!  So you are not the only one to think 4 months ago... A real tribute to the power of influence the wonderful Angie has on us all!

Love this shade of pink on you!!!!

  • LoriFLA replied 6 years ago

Great outfit. The berry belt and shoes make it fab.

  • Lyn D. replied 6 years ago

    I noticed the belt too.
Pretty in pink, and I just commented on Tracy's post how olive seems to 'go' with everything.

  • Caro in Oz replied 6 years ago

    YLF.
    Two legs good!!

  • replied 6 years ago

I love the pink and berry with the olive, and that's a nice sage-y shade of olive too. I say you adopt those shorts. your walking shoes are NOT bad. You're way too hard on yourself (well hard on your toes apparently)! YLF!

  • Beth Ann replied 6 years ago

Woohoo!  I'll come back to this thread later.  I've been amazed at the versatility of olive...... will probe further.  (P.S.  Love the mix of pink/red).

  • Lisa replied 6 years ago

I am all for comfy footwear, stylish or not.  I also like the wedges.  Pink and olive are lovely on you.  I need to find a solid pink top to try out this look.

  • MsLuna replied 6 years ago

Suz I love everything about this outfit! I think it's no secret that you wear pinks very well and pink naturally looks fantastic with olive! The proportions are lovely and the shoe choice is amazing! You look fab!

  • shevia replied 6 years ago

Love! I think that linen is the same as my light blue v-neck. Really high quality linen, don't you think? You are pretty in pink, lame cliche perhaps but true!

  • Suz replied 6 years ago

I like the J. Crew linen, yes, Jaime! It's a bit sheer so I wore a cami today but when it gets super hot I will probably go without. The drape is fabulous on these.

Thank you for the nice compliments. This neon bubblegum is technically a bit too intense for me but when I have a bit of colour in my face it works okay. I figured this was a summer piece so it would be safe to go a bit more intense.

  • Joy replied 6 years ago

You are beyond pretty in that shade of pink. You glow. Who knew bubblegum, olives, and dark cherries could be delicious?!

  • Karie replied 6 years ago

I love this color combo. I was going to wear olive and pink today too, but I have no pink summer tops :( I ended up wearing olive (ON olive khakis) and a white top.

  • Firecracker replied 6 years ago

You look great in this outfit, Suz. That style of shorts is made for you. I love the wedge sandals with the outfit; funny that you have a standing version of the outfit and a walking version! I'm always switching shoes if I have to do a log of walking, too.
Now that you've reminded me of this post, I'm thinking I'll need to get out my pink and olive--maybe tomorrow, if my olive pants aren't in the laundry!

  • Ingunn replied 6 years ago

You look fab, Suz! That particular shade of pink is perfect for you. High five for getting hand-me-downs from our daughters!

  • lyn67 replied 6 years ago

I always loved olive with pinks and your shade of pink is amazing, Suz! Not to mention the belt and sandals in cherry are the cream on top of all, so nice to see your summer casuals, YLFas always!:-)

  • Quietgirl replied 6 years ago

    delightful!

  • krishnidoux replied 6 years ago

    Very cute!

  • Aubergine replied 6 years ago

Echoing everyone else here! Such a great casual outfit and I love the belt and wedges with it.

  • texstyle replied 6 years ago

So pretty in that bright shade of pink - and it works so well with the olive shorts. You look great! I wonder if you or Shevia have hand washed your linen sweater yet?

  • NDMom replied 6 years ago

Suz, you are glowing in your wonderful outfit!  I love everything about it!

  • Suz replied 6 years ago

texstyle, I did wash my top. I actually washed in the machine (hand wash cycle) and lay flat to dry. Worked easily. It's more a tee than a sweater, in actual fact -- quite lightweight.

  • Joyce B replied 6 years ago

So pretty! I live that color combination, I had not thought about it before.
Olive green is a fab neutral.

  • Mo replied 6 years ago

Great combo!  I tried those shorts - no go on me. Might have to go back to TJ Maxx and size up on the ones I spied last week ;)

  • Transcona Shannon replied 6 years ago

This is a great casual combination on you Suz. Love the brighter shade of pink with the olive. How unfortunate your daughter has grown out of those shorts...

  • Inge replied 6 years ago

Well, it was certainly worth the wait, Suz :-)

These shorts look amazing on you, and I absolutely love the unexpected bright pink with the khaki. Adding the red belt and sandals (I think they look great with this outfit!) adds another unexpected and fab touch. I love it all.

  • Debora replied 6 years ago

LOVE these colors on you! You look amazing!

  • pil replied 6 years ago

Lovely pink on you and both shoes look great. You get better hand me downs from your daughter than I did from my son. I got his old snow pants :). No pink in my closet so I've been wearing olive and burgundy.

  • LACeleste replied 6 years ago

    You look super lovely Suz!

  • replied 6 years ago

i have those shorts and have not yet hit on the right top for them. I try the semi-tuck but it feels a little contrived. I do however, LOVE this bright pink with them - both the top and the shoes- and will re-think this pair of shorts now! Really enjoying your posts. Shyly from Manitoba.....

  • Phatgranny replied 6 years ago

Look at you -- so adorabella (as my sister would say . . .)!  Your daughter must be thrilled to have a momma who looks this stunning in hand-me-up (?) shorts.  Love your shoes!

  • greenglove replied 6 years ago

Inspiring! Pink is so great for you and I love the olive with it, you are so put together and stylish whethere dressed up or casual, gorgeous!

  • shedev replied 6 years ago
