First order arrived. Pics added!

So far, I think I have some keepers.

1/2. ML dress. Gorgeous drape and swish! A nice weight jersey, easy to wear yet extremely elegant. Lined up top. Very well made for the price point. Angie said TTS but mine seems a little bit on the large side. It might depend on body type modifiers. My regular size fits, but generously. I can't wait to wear this one! Mr. Suz gave it a thumbs up. It reminds me a bit of a similar style floral Betsy Johnson dress he bought me in the 90s, so it's a bit romantic. :)

2. Carie bootie -- fit is a bit long on the foot and as usual it's loose on my right heel, but there is no such thing as footwear that does not flip flop on my heels. With socks there's no risk of blisters. Comfort is excellent for me -- very stable heel and lots of cushioning inside. The fit on my calf is no problem. I might need to add an insole for support. Gorgeous sapphire colour will work with my wardrobe and I love the snip square toe. Do you think the ankle fit looks okay?

5/6. Kuts -- mine say DONNA. They are higher waisted than my old Dianas -- not an ultra high waist, but mid-high, reaching my navel. VERY stretchy ponte fabric, stretchier and more "legging" like than I ordinarily prefer, and yet still substantial and comfortable and a great fit in my regular size. They will replace my old Kut Mia plaid skinnies which were very low waisted. I'll wear these for work-from-home wear (I kid you not, they are as comfy as PJs!!) and tucked into my tall boots in rainy weather. I think they look better in person -- Mr. Suz was a big fan right away.

5/6 Zella hoodie -- I sized up for a slightly more oversized, slouchy feel since I will wear primarily as loungewear. It's unbearably itchy in the heat and humidity but will be perfect in cooler temps. Lovely subtle textural knit on the front and lighter weight than my other cashmere lounge sweater. Gorgeous navy.

6/7 Treasure & Bond scarf -- lighter weight silk than last year's Hinge scarf, but still substantial. The pattern is great with my hair. Also, don't you love how the spot on my bathroom mirror makes it look like I've added nose jewellery? ;)

Camisole, bras, undies, smartwool socks-- all replacements for worn-out ones. I use the sale to refresh this capsule every year. Not shown, but all keepers.

Thanks for looking!

    Waiting for pics! Sounds promising!

Would you mind sorting what was available in Canada and what needed to come from the US? Please! I am hoping to make it to Calgary but i’m not sure it will work out. Thanks!!

  • kkards replied 5 years ago

we will be boot and hoody twins!

yes, its sooo hard to try on these fall things when you are melting from the heat and humidity....

nice to be able to stock up on the basics, unfortunately nothing that i am currently wearing was part of the sale this year.

  • Suz replied 5 years ago

Tina, I ended up ordering all my stuff from the US this year. The boots were not available, the shoes I wanted weren't, the pants weren't...and at that point I just decided, what the heck, I'll do my whole order from the US.  If I need to return I know I will be able to make an in-person trip to the US (I have to go there for work in the fall).

Best idea would be to make a list of the item numbers of things that interest you and call the Calgary store to find out if they have them in Canada. If they do, they will send them to you -- free delivery. That's what I did in previous years for the items that I could get here. It seemed to me that less was available in Canada this year but that may be a fluke.

  • Tina replied 5 years ago

Thank you so much for the info, Suz! Very much appreciated.

  • Kathie replied 5 years ago

Thanks for the reviews! My hoodie arrives this week, and I'm very curious how I'll feel about the fit (given that Angie said to size down) and the itch factors. Do you think you'd wear it over a base layer, like a heattech? Looking forward to seeing your pictures- it is so hard in the heat and humidity!

  • LaPed replied 5 years ago

Can't wait for pics, mainly because I'm very curious to see the length of the floral dress on you. Also, I know exactly what you mean about the trouble of shopping for knitwear when it's hot and muggy -- try-ons are torture! :)

  • Angie replied 5 years ago

Wooohooo. YAY. Your games are in full swing.

Suz, I sooo glad that most of it is working already. I can’t wait to see the dress. Fingers crossed for the booties.

Kathie, FWIW, I didn’t find the Zella top itchy and I’m very sensitive. I bet it’s the sticky humid heat sans a/c that is making it so for Suz. She hasn’t given up on it yet, though! I did find the XS too big, and my clients sized down too. I suspect Suz wants hers EXTRA slouchy.

  • Kathie replied 5 years ago

Thanks, Angie! If you were sized out, then I hope I'll be fine with the XS. I have a mix of S and XS in my tops.

  • Janet replied 5 years ago

    Nice choices!

I really like the Kut pants, and  I can see them working well for you. I'm waiting on the smaller of my two sizes to arrive before making a final decision. The larger ones seem to fit, but it's always good to be sure, as I've been fooled before by stretchy pants that fit in a larger size and then feel too floppy once I wear them for a while. I actually pulled out my old Kut plaid pants from a few years ago, which are quite similar. For some reason, I was remembering them being snug in the waist last winter, but when I put them on, they really weren't (and I know I haven't lost weight since then! just goes to show that sometimes we don't remember fit properly if we don't try on our clothes for a while).

  • Janet replied 5 years ago

Oh, and it sounds like we are having identical weather. Simultaneously hot and humid AND rainy and dark. Flash flooding all over the place here. Our front yard is a mud pit. Mosquitos will be carrying me away. Sigh.

  • Keix replied 5 years ago

Yay, glad to hear that the Aquatalia boots are promising! I was worried for you after mine arrived yesterday. Awaiting pics :)

  • rachylou replied 5 years ago

Dark and rainy?! Wanna see pics! :)

  • Suz replied 5 years ago

    Pics added.

Re the Zella -- the sweater will NOT be scratchy in different weather conditions. I am very sensitive to wool and cashmere in hot humid weather -- yet I wear them ALL THE TIME in winter. This sweater is obviously not as soft as the softest cashmere, since it is a blend, but it feels like a reasonable quality and I think it will wear well. I wanted mine extra slouchy for around the house. I will likely wear something (at least a cami) underneath it all the time. I could easily have taken my regular size but I'm happy with this effect, too.

The floral dress is a really nice length on me, I think? Not too long. I could wear it with flats if I want -- it doesn't come anywhere near dragging, except maybe on stairs.

  • Toban replied 5 years ago

Wow. Wow. Wow! Love the ML dress on you. What an excellent NAS for you.

  • Elizabeth P replied 5 years ago

OMG, that dress is FANTASTIC on you.  Wow.  Wondering if another order is in my future....

Sounds like you did really really well!  No returns?

Oh... the boots... it's too hard to tell the fit from the pics, they certainly look fine.  I think this is something you'll have to sort out once you get to try them with insoles.  I hope they work, they are a lovely colour.

  • LaPed replied 5 years ago

Wow, lots of keepers! The dress looks great to me. Perfect length for those boots.

  • Suz replied 5 years ago

Elizabeth, yes. I'm pretty sure this is a no returns order. I agree it is awfully hard to see the fit of the boots. The conditions for photo taking were the absolute pits today.

Toban, Elizabeth, LaPed, thanks! The dress itself is really gorgeous. You have to be okay with waist emphasis. It's not tight at all but it is fitted in the bodice.

  • Suz replied 5 years ago

Still to come, the following items.

  • gryffin replied 5 years ago

Suz - what a spectacularly gorgeous haul!!  The dress looks amazing on you!!  As do the booties - elegant, refined and edgy, so great.  The kuts, scarf and tunic look great as well.  You are having an amazing NAS!!  Congrats!

  • Elizabeth P replied 5 years ago

Ohhhhh, you ordered those EF shoes!  Please report back on sizing.
Did you take a slightly larger size in your EF sandals?  I did... I'm a 9 normally, and mine are 9.5.  So I'd love to know if this is a consistency in EF for me, or an anomaly.

  • Suz replied 5 years ago

Gryffin, thank you! I am getting a lot better at working this sale than in my first few years. But it helps that my wardrobe is in a good place and I don't have to settle.

Also...you are so right...TUNIC. :) It seems I am not as dead-set against them as I am forever saying, ha!

Elizabeth, I took a 7 in the EF sandals and ordered that here also. My best shoe size is EU 37. Sometimes I get a 6.5 in US sizes and sometimes 7. Depends on the brand and the type of footwear.

  • Runcarla replied 5 years ago

Love the dress! Especially cute with the booties.

  • Suz replied 5 years ago

Carla, this dress would be GREAT on you with your colouring. See if it is available in Canada. I never actually checked, but seriously -- it would be wonderful on you for any special event you might have, and it's very packable.

  • Angie replied 5 years ago

KILLER STUNNING DRESS, Suz. Love it with the boots. Length looks elegant. Isn't it the best NAS dress ever.....

Love the Zella hoodie and patterned scarf too.

    WOOHOOO. You've already done well......

  • Suz replied 5 years ago

Angie, thank you for recommending the dress! I think it will also work really well with those poor booties that have been languishing in my closet for the past 3 years (see Finds). ;) The red and silver are a similar style to the new blue ones, although the shaft may be just slightly shorter. Did you try it with your Calvin Klein booties? I know the heel is too high for regular wear on you in those. But the creamy tone with black heel would be great with the dress.

  • Joy replied 5 years ago

The dress is spectacular on you.  So elegant yet approachable, if you know what I mean.  I can hardly wait for my Diana/Donna Kuts to get here.  They have not been sent yet but the larger cup Natori Feathers bra has.  I'm now considering the dress.  Thank you.  Do you think a regular size in the dress would be my best bet?

The hoodie looks perfect for working at home and running some errands.  Will it fit under a blazer or coat?

  • gryffin replied 5 years ago

Suz - nodding.  I would wear that exact tunic in black, same fluid ease is my favorite as well, since I carry my length in the my legs, I would love it about 2" longer but not a deal breaker, but.....those kuts are definitely legging like, just your uber flattering and comfy version!  And BTW, you look stunning.  I think the whole outfit looks both cozy, elegant, refined but relaxed.  Just great!!

  • Berkeley Girl replied 5 years ago

The dress is wonderful on you! I love it with both the sandals and the booties. The outfit with the silver sneakers and the GORGEOUS scarf is perfect casual elegance.

  • UmmLila (Lisa) replied 5 years ago

I love all your choices. Right for your look and your lifestyle. I hadn't been thinking those pants were interesting, but now that I see them on you ...

  • Style Fan replied 5 years ago

The dress looks gorgeous on you.  Beautiful scarf.  You did well.

  • jussie replied 5 years ago

Wow that dress and scarf are so elegant on you. Actually the scarf is much, much nicer in your photo than the stock photo.

  • Suz replied 5 years ago

Thank you all! I did do well!! Surprise, surprise, paying attention to Angie's recommendations is a good idea. ;)

Joy, as far as I know the ML dress does not come in petite. It comes in larger sizes but not lower than 0. If it does and I missed it, then I might be tempted to order it in the petite myself. The regular surely fits but I suspect the torso length would be a bit better for me in a petite size and the length more like on the model. I do think it works perfectly well in the regular, though.

  • Christina F. replied 5 years ago

Everything is smashing on you. I figured that dress would be a slam dunk. Immy order has not even shipped yet, so I’m living vicariously through you all.

  • JAileen replied 5 years ago

The dress looks fantastic on you. No returns - wonderful!

  • replied 5 years ago

Suz --  I am so happy that everything is working out for you as well it is. That dress is gorgeous on you!!  So perfect for your style.  The booties are sublime with the dress.  Perfect.

Again, so happy to hear of your success.  Wear it all in good health.

  • Kathie replied 5 years ago

Wow! The dress is fabulous on you! This has been a very good NAS for you this year, and with more to come!

  • Peri replied 5 years ago

Wow, that dress is great on you! It was hideous on me. :( Moral of the story: anything that is right for you and Angie is wrong for me!

Agree that you are a better scarf model than the website's!

  • kkards replied 5 years ago

Came back to see the pictures....that dress is fab! Love. Every thing looks good as well
    Yeah for great sale!

  • Like the Season replied 5 years ago

Ooh, everything looks great! No returns? I can only stand in awe at your awesome shopping skills.

I had another go at the Zella sweater after my first order was canceled. Fingers crossed!

  • Keix replied 5 years ago

Love the dress on you! The flowers aren't my color, otherwise I'd be tempted after seeing how well the regular midi length works on petites.

And the booties look great! I don't see any problems with the ankle fit, but then it was hard to photograph on mine as well. If you can't make up your mind, post a K/R later on with insoles fitted and a sunny day?

  • unfrumped replied 5 years ago

    Woot loot!

Love the dress. I am trying it- not here yet. If I have sized right.

  • Jaime replied 5 years ago

The dress is stunning on you! My favorite but all of these are excellent choices. The boots look fab to me.

  • rachylou replied 5 years ago

    Yum yum!

  • lyn67 replied 5 years ago

Wow, all choices are fab, but  my faves are the dress and boots,  yummy indeed!:-)

  • Meghan R replied 5 years ago

You look awesome in all these pics! Looks like it was a successful sale for you :)

  • Aquamarine replied 5 years ago

Looks like you had a great NAS so far! Loving that dress on you. I was tempted except I m never happy with beige and black, preferring a pure white and black with my coloring. But you look smashing!

  • Suz replied 5 years ago

Aquamarine -- I was concerned that the flowers might be too warm for me, too, but took a chance. I also prefer a pure white with my silver hair -- most creams and beiges are awful on me. But this is not beige -- it's blush. They call it "coral" but the flowers are neutral blush rather than warm or cool. (I was hoping for cool pink, but hey, you can't have everything!). Anyway, it's neutral enough that with the predominant black it works. So you might give it a whirl just in case.

  • Colette replied 5 years ago

Suz, I'm always amazed at your shopping skills. You did so well. Always nice to get a thumbs up from the Mr. too.

I had to pass on the Aquatalia booties, they did not fit my calves and I was bummed because they are gorgeous!

I hope the EF shoes and dress work out as well.

  • replied 5 years ago

That dress could not fit more perfectly , but I'm a bit surprised no one else other than me is bothered by the seam down the front of the dress and the lack  of pattern matching.  I noticed this in the stock photo too right from the first time we saw this dress in Angie's finds , and all I can see are flowers cut in half etc.  Perhaps I'm seeing something that's not there.  Anyways - boots, sweater, scarf etc - everything is great on you, as usual.  Can't see the boots well enough in the photo to detect any ankle-fit issues .  I think I need to take up marathon daily walks - it clearly works well for you ;)

  • Suz replied 5 years ago

LisaP, you're right about the centre seam and lack of pattern matching on the dress. IRL, the dress has so much movement that (for me at least) this is not a problem. The centre seam is part of the fit genius of the dress (the ruching detail depends on it -- different to ruching on other many other dresses I've had, it emanates from the centre vs. on the sides, as with many sheaths) and that's what gives the dress its "flow."  I think it's probably a personal preference thing. I have low tolerance for non-matching geometric patterns (stripes and plaids) and relatively high tolerance for non-matching florals and abstracts. So to my eye it looks fine. But others who tried it on (Barbara Diane, I think?) were bothered by pattern placement. Not at the middle but by flowers on one shoulder and not on another -- that kind of thing.)

  • Dana replied 5 years ago

Wow, wow, wow! Great choices! Suz, you really know your style and colors. The dress is phenomenal! It's a lot of dress, but it's so flattering and I love the eye flow it gives with the metallic sandals. Book ending with your silver and cream sandals will be fantastic, too! Will you wear tights later on?

The hoodie is super cute, too. You dress so well when you're at home. I should, but I have such a hard time investing in lounge clothes (well, I know you're working, not lounging!)

Did you end up buying the Nord. Signature periwinkle hoodie? I tried it on b/c the color is sublime, but I look so much better in a low neck. I think the color would be AMAZING on you!!

  • replied 5 years ago

Ah - I didn't realize that there was ruching down the front, which makes more sense for pattern matching not being an issue.  It's a great dress, and I bet you'll wear it a ton.

  • hbeaver replied 5 years ago

Thanks for the post, Suz.  I also have the sapphire boots and was a little concerned about the sagging around the ankles but decided they are so gorgeous I want to keep them.

  • Suz replied 5 years ago

hbeaver, I think the ankle fit might have to do in part with the calf fit. If the calf is snug it won't pull up all the way. So people whose calves are the wrong shape for the shoe will struggle. On me, the calf fit is just on the edge.

Lisa, there's ruching in a kind of starburst pattern on the front and also some on the back. So IRL instead of "mismatched pattern" you see "overall movement" or texture. There are visible folds in the fabric on the torso.

Dana, yes -- this dress is a fall/winter weight for me, not summer, so I will wear hose or tights most of the time with it. And probably booties rather than sandals. I just happened to be wearing those for try on. I plan to try it with the footwear below.

I didn't buy the Nordstrom periwinkle hoodie. I am SO tempted by the colour but it is so much money!! Did you like the texture/ weight of it?

  • gisellec replied 5 years ago

You look fantastic in that dress!  Great picks!

  • replied 5 years ago

The floral dress looks wonderful on you! Such a perfect fit!
Booties are gorgeous. I love the square toe and the height of the shaft.
Excited to hear about the navy shirt dress. I am so tempted but am trying very hard to focus on winter items!

  • Windchime replied 5 years ago

You scored with your first order! The ML dress is gorgeous on you. The hoodie is your color, and it looks super warm and comfy for working or lounging at home. And a sapphire boot—how awesome is that?!

LOL about nose jewelry...it could be kind of cute. :) And of course the cranberry print scarf is lovely on you. Congratulations on a great haul!

I’m still waiting, impatiently, for my first order, placed one week ago. Nordstrom’s is still “getting it ready” for shipping. Can’t wait!

  • anne replied 5 years ago

I'm really looking forward to seeing how you look in that dress you are still awaiting! It appeals to me so much.

  • Aquamarine replied 5 years ago

Ah, yes, I do see blush in your photos, much more so than the Nordstrom photo. Very pretty!

  • Beth Ann replied 5 years ago

What a gorgeous dress -- it is elegant and swishy, but the scale and fit are perfect -- dramatic and romantic without overwhelming.

The boots are rich and beautiful -- so glad they work for you!

  • Dianna replied 5 years ago

You look stunning in that dress. It goes perfect with the booties as well as with the three pairs you already have.  The other pieces are perfect for you as well, but the dress is simply gorgeous.

  • Cardiff girl replied 5 years ago

Can’t really add to what has already been said.THat dress is heart breaking lay lovely on you and the scarf is gorgeous, looks like you are going to be smashing it style wise again this autumn/winter.

  • Dana replied 5 years ago

Suz, I didn't buy the periwinkle hoodie. They only had an xs and I normally wear S or M. It's kind of a boucle, which I'm seeing more of, but it still feels so '90's to me. Plus...$$$!

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 5 years ago

What great finds, Suz! The dress is beautiful on you, really great with the sandals, and I ADORE it with the booties. Wow. Everything looks fab!

And I'm laughing at your "nose jewelry."

  • Jenn replied 5 years ago

Such a great selection, Suz! NAS is good to you! I especially like the slouchy hoodie. Cozy loungewear is important!

  • Karie replied 5 years ago

Sweet sister! It’s all gorgeous. I love, love, love, the dress with those black boots. Perfection.

  • Susie replied 5 years ago

How did I miss this? That dress is perfect for you, Suz, just gorgeous.

  • replied 5 years ago

I finally ordered this dress and it is such a winner!  Now pairing shoes with it--possibly the EF Hutton's in raisen since the EF Tilda's were not narrow enough for me.   Black is an option too.  I've decided to wear this to an October wedding.  Always the shoes are the problematical item due to fussy narrow feet that don't take to wearing heels much anymore.  Thinking burgundy small crossbody/clutch convertible if the EF Hutton's work.  The flower color in beige and subtle coral I hope will take to burgundy!

  • minnaheadsure replied 5 years ago

    The ML dress is amazing.

  • Freckles replied 5 years ago

You killed it again Suz.  So love the dress on you, it could go a million different places.  Looks like a real workhorse.

  • replied 5 years ago

So, Suz, I am giving the EF Tilda's another try, ordered the next size down to see if I can get the heel from slipping.  For the wedding, still wearing the Maggy London dress and switched to nude low heels that matches the beige/cream color in floral pattern.  For rehearsal dinner and Blessing, going more casual with midi purple skirt, black top and maybe the EF Tilda's.  Decided against burgundy for ML dress accessories and the raisen in EF Hutton's definitely didn't work.  making progress . . . .

  • Suz replied 5 years ago

Great news, CJ, and these sound like lovely combinations. Crossing fingers that the shoes work out for you.

  • krishnidoux replied 5 years ago

WOW! Everything is so fantastic here! That dress on you, to die for!
And BTW I really like your hair how it is styled here.
    Congrats on a great haul.

  • Susan replied 5 years ago

Suz, you are SO elegant in everything you wear! I aspire to look like that:)

  • Sally B replied 4 years ago

You look gorgeous in all photos. Especially love the dress with the black boots. You have a beautiful shape so you would look good in anything.

  • Mainelady replied 4 years ago

Suz, all great choices for you! The dress is spectacular on you and I think very sweet that if reminds you of a pretty your DH ought for you. Wise plan to replace your basics. I should do the same.

  • LadyFashioniser replied 4 years ago

I do like the dress, it ideally fits your silhouette, underlining your slim body. The shoes are okay, but something is missing with this footwear. The top and pants look is great, a kind of normcore outfit. But the scarf is not matching the outfit.

  • ~M replied 4 years ago

Geez! The booties are already sold out. Too bad because I like them A LOT!

  • Echo replied 4 years ago

M, if you're looking for anything from the OP, it is 11 months old. The sale hasn't yet begun for this year.
