No Repeat MO-vember Week the first

A little tribute both to Mo (whose idea this was) and the MOvember fundraising efforts to help protect and save the guys in our lives.

Luckily, there is no rule that we cannot repeat items, or I would be in trouble.

Day 1: Had to give an afternoon presentation and reading at the university.

Navy booties: Zara
Moto skinnies: Theory
Sleeveless modal turtleneck: Winners
Jacquard jacket: Zara

Day 2: Rainy day work-at-home and take my cat to the vet.

Navy booties: Zara
Dark wash up-sized toothpick jeans: J. Crew
Sleeveless modal turtleneck: Winners
Grey cardigan: Eileen Fisher (gift from Nancylee...mostly worn as loungewear now but once in a while it gets out!)
Leopard print belt: No hame cheapie.

Day 3: Worn to take my daughter for her birthday lunch. She is 14!! I wore the kitty print shirt because she loves it so.

Navy knit dress: Ralph Lauren
Navy booties: Zara
Kitty print silk shirt: Equipment
Taupe leather jacket: Danier
Bag: Tiganello

Day 4: Work at home.

Snakeprint booties: Sam Edelman
Slouchy skinnies: Banana Republic
Belt: no name cheapie
Sweater: Only Mine from NAS
Cami: BP

Day 5: Work at home

Booties: Munro from NAS
White jeans: Kut Diana skinnies
Sweater: Banana Republic
Scarf: Banana Republic
Belt: No-name cheapie

This is the sweater scarf combo that so wowed me on Ariadne when we met that I had to buy it for myself!!

Day 6: Had to attend and help with a friend's book launch. Rainy night so I had a trench on over top.

Navy booties: Zara
Black skinnies: GAP Really Skinny
Modal T-neck: Winners
Belt: No-name cheapie
Jacket: Danier
Bag: Tiganello

Day 7:

This knit shirt is probably one of my most flattering colours IRL. I don't have much in this particular teal/ peacock but I wish I could find more.

Booties: Munro (as Sveta said, they seem to dance onto my feet and have been begging to be worn with white, of all things -- so I just go with it.)

Jeans: Kut Dianas.
Belt: No-name cheapie
Shirt: Eileen Fisher
Scarf: Banana Republic

Thanks, Mo, for the push to do this. As you can all see, I definitely work with mini-capsules, repeating articles quite often within a week but trying to vary the outfit a bit. I very obviously have favourite items, the CPW of which is less than pennies.

Also, if anyone can suggest a replacement for this modal t-neck (it has ruching down one side) please, please, PLEASE let me know. I actually don't care if it is modal. It could be wool, cashmere, or any old thing. I just need a great, fluid fit sleeveless t-neck. I wear this one all  the time in transitional weather. And it is getting pretty tired looking.

Suz, you are killing me with your streamlined perfection in every outfit.  I kept clicking through waiting to see something I could critique, but I have nothing to offer other than slack-jawed admiration.

So #1 is perfect for a presentation.  #2 could easily be worn outside the house - you look like me on a dressed up day!

  • AviaMariah replied 10 years ago

You are the master mixer.  I had to really pay attention to see where you had repeated items.  You also answered a question I was asking myself the other day and that is if the Zara navy booties could be worn as "black".  In other words in an outfit where there is not other blue to relate to them.  If I'm not mistaken you've done that a few times.  My favorite looks are 6 and 8 although my favorite expression is in #3 - looks like you're just about to stick your hand in the cookie jar!  I have no suggestions for black Tnecks as I'm on the hunt also.

  • Parsley replied 10 years ago

You look so very fabulous in EVERY. SINGLE. ONE. of these, Suz!
    Just perfection!

I never thought of wearing a sleeveless turtleneck! It does seem like a good transitional piece.
I love a good shopping challenge! I found these:

    http://www.amazon.com/ToBeInSt.....B0072LBRZM

    http://www.sierratradingpost.c.....n~p~6220u/

    http://www.anthropologie.com/a.....004&c

I don't know about delivery to Canada. Louben is a Canadian brand, though, isn't it? Maybe you can find one near you if you like it.

  • Suz replied 10 years ago

Thank you! Wow, Parsley, you are my shopping fairy today! Thanks so much! And yes, Louben is Canadian. I can probably find it here. I did find a great Lord and Taylor cashmere one at the Bay, too, but then it went off sale while I was dithering and at full price was too rich for my wallet (especially after having seen it at sale price first.)

AVM: yes, I have worn the navy booties with black. Although in outfit one, there is a blue jacket to relate, and in outfit 2, those are dark navy jeans, and in outfit 3, the dress and tights are navy (I know it is tough to tell in the pictures.) Outfit 8 is the only one where there's no blue to relate -- but I was wearing it at night where you really wouldn't notice. But Angie wore with black pants this week in her blog post. She did have some blue on elsewhere, however.

AG: I actually thought of you in outfit #2!  Thank you.

  • amiable replied 10 years ago

Oh my word - how wonderful you look in every one of these!  #2, 3 4 and 7 are my favorites, but really - they're all just perfect.  I'm loving your streamlined style, and taking notes for myself.

  • pil replied 10 years ago

    Fabulous!

  • Joy replied 10 years ago

I love a sleeveless turtleneck for layering under a jacket when sleeves would be too warm. I'm no help with finding one though. Most of mine are thrifted or consignment. My most worn is an old black cashmere version that is a store brand of Dillards department stores. You might look at cashmere sets that sell pieces separately ( sleeveless shell with matching cardi).
All your outfits are stellar. Your wardrobe reminds me of Angie's...full of gorgeous pieces that fit to perfection.
About the beautiful teal/peacock knit, EF often does near repeats of colors. You might check EBay for the color.

  • kellygirl replied 10 years ago

Sheesh, you set the bar awfully high for a no repeat Mo-vember! All of these are out of the ball park fab to me. I especially love the more casual outfits--2, 5, 6, 7 because I love casual, of course! The drapey cardigan is gorgeous on you--what a great alternative to a blazer. It still manages to look structured on you though--how do you do that? Anyway, all are so beautiful. I wish you had a giant light box to stand in so I could see the colors more clearly. Ahh, winter, what are you going to do?

  • Aquamarine replied 10 years ago

As usual, everything looks great but gosh I LOVE 8.

  • deb replied 10 years ago

The blue jacket is divine.  Wonderful outfits for the week!

  • Suz replied 10 years ago

Thank you all - you are very sweet.

Kelly, I knew you would like the casual looks! :) I think the cardigan looks structured because (unlike most waterfall cardigans) it actually IS a bit structured! There's a sort of waist panel in ribbed knit at the back, which reins it in a bit. Plus I scrunch the sleeves big time. And I do have square shoulders, so things fall pretty well.

Joy, great suggestion to check eBay for this colour of items...wow, I might get a bonanza. It's from a couple of years ago.

    Thanks, Amy and Pil!

Kelly, I am really struggling with light -- I actually lightened some of these up, and some were even taken on a sunny day!

ETA: Deb, this jacket would look great on you, too. Just saying. :)

  • Sona replied 10 years ago

Agree with everyone : fab, fab, fab. Modern classic and very chic. Love how you are using your limited wardrobe ( based on your previous comments) to create such fantastic looks.Great work.Kudos!

  • Sharon replied 10 years ago

You look beautiful, Suz. I especially love the outfit you wore on your daughters birthday. And you are right: that peacock blue looks fantastic on you. Maybe you could send some anonymous suggestions to Pantone!

  • Mo replied 10 years ago

So punny!  I can't take all the credit though - Imogen is doing it over at Inside Out Style and so is Jill Chivers.  But I'm happy to have gotten us going over here.  :)
It's clear you're in your groove.  There's a definite cohesion with all your outfits and the color palette.  Looking good!

  • Peri replied 10 years ago

Ohhhhh! I thought I would try to choose my favorite but I can't. So fantastic, all. I really really like 2 and 3.

  • Angie replied 10 years ago

You have incredible Work At Home Style, Suz. And you are gorgeous with your specs. I vote killer all round with a special shout out to my faves #1, #6 and #7.

I love that you wore your kitty shirt for DD. xo

  • gryffin replied 10 years ago

Suz - you look stunning in every single outfit!!  Honestly, I don't know how you do it.  You have an amazing eye and each piece fits perfectly.  You are definitely looking for the holy grail of layering pieces.  I know this is not quite the neckline you want but it's turtlish in the photo http://www.zappos.com/joie-etienne-top-caviar turtle with tie back (too fussy?) http://cynthiavincent.net/prod.....oicyazlqj0  Would you do a mock turtle? this is a fab price? http://www.neimanmarcus.com/Jo.....ecid=NMALR  another mock turtle from nordies http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/mi.....d0OrXkDSeF  Good luck and hope you find something!!

  • Ornella replied 10 years ago

Beautiful, inspiring. I wish there are enough days in the week (and stuff in my wardrobe) to copy every single one. I cannot possibly pick a favourite.

Happy birthday to Mini Suz ;-)

  • Lyn D. replied 10 years ago

What a treat to see a whole week of your outfits Suz!

  • Caro in Oz replied 10 years ago

Amazing, I can't choose a favourite either Suz - you are rocking :)

  • Amy replied 10 years ago

Suz, you've got your fab style nailed down. I like them all!

  • Beth Ann replied 10 years ago

Am in a rush, so I'll comment in detail lately, but I wanted to say that I love the crispness and creatively in these outfits.  You are mastering the remix and looking so sleek and modern and approachable.
Is DD really 14?  I'll keep mine 12 forever.  Well.....maybe not!

  • Greyscale replied 10 years ago

I love all of these! You look fantastic! Lots of inspiration for me to make a few sharper, more professional outfits - I love your classic chic look.

  • unfrumped replied 10 years ago

Total fantasticness! I especially like 1,2 ,3 ,5--oh heck, all of them.
I would like to layer as in kitty + Ralph but have not found the right combo.

I like how you are re-mixing--so far I'm not at goal on that. I think honing my color choices is helping--are you finding that, or that careful proportions helps more, or what?

  • Suz replied 10 years ago

Unfrumped, I think it's a combination. Limiting my colours and neutrals has been really helpful, for sure. But I haven't really limited them all THAT much, when you really think of it. Neutrals: Grey (all shades, from charcoal to light silvery grey); taupe (again, a variety of tones); navy (ditto); denim (ditto again); white and off-white; and black! Colours: blues (all of them, almost); berries (from cranberry to fuchsia); orchid-to-plum.

The pieces that remix most easily are the simple, classic essentials, like that turtleneck, and of course jeans. I find I'm more eager to wear the pieces that fit me best and are most comfortable, so I find ways to create outfits around those.

Gryffn, thank you for those great links! I will check them. I am sure this top exists somewhere. It's funny, when I bought the one I have I wondered if I would ever actually wear it. It seemed sort of an oxymoron -- who needs a turtleneck without sleeves? But as Joy says, it is great for layering, and with my long neck and short hair, is a great neckline for me. It saves me from wearing a scarf. I like scarves, but my minimalist soul actually prefers to go without a lot of the time.

  • Jewell replied 10 years ago

I agree with Angie re: your work at home style...sensational Suz! Love day four (pic 5)!

  • Lisa replied 10 years ago

I'm with others, you are a master at remixing.  I am taking notes.  I also adore your heavy blue based color palette. :)

Fun kitty printed top, an unexpected print in a classic look, nice touch!  And 14, wow, that's wonderful, congrats!

  • Sveta replied 10 years ago

I have to repeat what Angie said: you do have incredible Work-From_Home style! I am afraid I would look like a slob most of the time if I was staying at home but you are always so put together and stylish!
All you outfits are great, I cannot really pick a favorite here. Maybe a navy dress one because I adore that cat shirt :-)
And you are giving me an idea to wear the red booties with my white trousers: I have not done it yet.

  • Jaime replied 10 years ago

Get out! (I am now pushing you down like Elaine used to do.) Just when I thought you had reached your pinnacle you outdo yourself. I am so stunned that I have not read what you or anyone else wrote yet. I am going to grab a cup of coffee and enjoy this, but meanwhile these are STUNNING!

ETA Ok careful review just confirms that everyone is as blown out of the park as I was, but I will add a Happy Birthday to (not so little anymore) DD!

  • sarah replied 10 years ago

Suz, you look absolutely fantastic in all of these! I'm taking notes ; ).

LOVE #6 (well, love them all, but #6 is my fave).

    You go, girl.

  • MuseumGal replied 10 years ago

My goodness you are elegant!  And that first blue patterned blazer makes my heart go pitter patter!

  • Elizabeth P replied 10 years ago

What they said. I couldn't possibly say it better, nor add anything worthwhile. Can't wait until next week!

  • Ariadne replied 10 years ago

Wow, what a stunning week!  You are the definition of pulled-together easy sophistication.  I love everything but my faves are 1, 6, and 8.

  • DizzyLizzy replied 10 years ago

Sigh...you are so darn stylish in each and every outfit. You have the knack of making classics look like a million dollars.

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 10 years ago

Wow, I agree with everyone here--you look fab every day. I'm impressed and admiring all of these great outfits.

  • Debra replied 10 years ago

I am loving all of these outfits, it is way too hard to pick a favorite.
    YLF. :)

  • gryffin replied 10 years ago

Suz - I was on the hunt for this item about 2 yr ago.  I look better in the mock turtle style and I used to have a sleevless black mock body suit which fell to tatters.  I foulnd it almost impossible to replace.  Either they are poor quality, unavaible, really expensive or too boxy.  Finally I gave up and bought the gap black ribbed tank (for me a high crew will do) and I wear it back to front and use that as my laying piece.  Of course, I bought about 6 this time since I wear them all the time as a base, so I am way on board on sleeveless as a foundation.  I have not search this item in awhile.  Good luck!!  I'll be following this thread with great interest.  Hope you let us know if you find somthing that works!!

  • Lantana replied 10 years ago

Thank you thank you Suz, these outfits are all so appealing and you must feel brimming with style and confidence when you wear them. Penny

  • replied 10 years ago

So late to this but you look fantastic in all of these. My faves are 2 and 6.

  • lyn67 replied 10 years ago

Wow, Suz, these are all so chic and stylish! I am  esp blown away by your working at home outfits, and that peacock blue is indeed very flatering on you! Great week! Can't wait to see more of MOvember's outfits!!!:-)
Also, Happy Birthday for your sweet fourtheen!
