...or shorter ones

Today's post was relevant to me because on Thursday, I head to Ontario for the first time since Covid restrictions came into effect. I'm still working on the travel capsule, but I think I have my flight outfit organized. I don't run quite as cold as Angie so I don't need as many layers, but I do follow the same principles, albeit in a more casual, slightly less polished key -- practical footwear, pants with ease or stretch, layered knit tops, toppers that are easy to stash.

Here's my planned outfit, minus watch and earrings and mask, of course!

The sweater is a replacement for my old Halogen red duster, which after four (or five?) years was pilled and faded. This one is of similar (low-ish) quality and low price point. The fabric is actually nicer than the Halogen, and the pockets are slash-style (more usable than the Halogen's patch pockets), but it has dropped shoulders, which are not as good on me. However, it's fire engine red and it's the right length, so it will do.

This looks great — comfy and cozy but a nice flattering color for you. Do the shoes zip on the side?  I love the metallic finish on them and the bag.

Looks perfect for the kind of weather we’ve been having!

Happy trails to you! Still can’t wrap my head around flying in jeans, but I know a lot of you do it. Love the pattern mix & the sparkly accessory compliment.

Suz, the combination of the red cardi, striped top and butterfly scarf is simply sublime!!

    Happy and safe travels!

It looks perfect. The red and the metallics together are lovely. Gorgeous scarf too. Enjoy your trip.

This is similar to what I would wear on a domestic/shorter flight. Love your metallic accents.

Thanks, all! StagFash, these jeans do have a bit of stretch and are not as snug on me as on the model, plus, the rise is good for me -- so they work. There are some jeans I would not fly in, for sure! A super high waisted style would NEVER be on my flight agenda!

If it were warmer, I'd be wearing my loose linen pants. And I still might sub them out, depending on the forecast. But they might not keep me warm enough on the plane.

Carla, good to know about the weather. I hear it has been all over the place but it is supposed to be about 23 and raining when I arrive. Still trying to figure out which rain jacket I will bring but I do have an umbrella that will go in the backpack.

It's really time for me to retire this LLBean Mariner top/ sweater -- my cat has made holes in it, which are thankfully not obvious. I don't have time to order a new one so it will have to do!

LOVE! Great strategy, and I'm high fiving you :)

Bonus points for this looking like a signature-Suz-look too! The shoe and bag complement is KILLER spectacular! Pattern mixing is on point.

    Safe travels and enjoy!

It looks great, and very similar to what I’d wear if I were flying somewhere. The red sweater is a perfect pop of bright color!

Scarfs are my #1 flying necessity…and I love the a longer sweater for a flight.
and these days a matching mask always takes your outfit to the next level

Looks just right to me! I just found a brand new pair of Woden metallic sneakers at a second hand shop that look very much like yours. Hope to see the finished look!

Looks pretty perfect with metallic accents and fabulous scarf ( pure envy ;) ).

Do you wear the cardigan and denim jacket together? I am never sure how to integrate a long cardigan with another topper. This is a very stylish travel outfit.

  • Suz replied 1 year ago

Hi, Bijou -- no, I wouldn't wear a long duster cardigan with a denim jacket -- they are topper options for the trip. I might wear a shorter cardigan (like in Angie's travel outfit) with a denim jacket -- for sure! That FIND photo is illustrating the jeans.

The striped sweater is longer than the denim jacket but I don't mind that. I semi-tuck it in front and it hangs down a bit in the back -- seems to work fine. But I won't wear the denim jacket with jeans -- just with skirts and/ or the linen pant.
