Oxymoron? Festive greys

I haven't exactly been looking a lot like Christmas these days, but I have been enjoying my share of festive indulgences including:

1. Lunch with Mr. Suz at a place featuring locally grown organic food. Wearing grey glen plaid culottes. It really is remarkable to me how wearing one's personal colours (blue and grey, for me -- blue eyed and grey haired) brings instant cohesion! Got a compliment from the waiter on my 3 year old, still going strong trousers as very cool and chic. :)

2. Shopping and lunch in the new Fair Isle. (Which got compliments from the young servers.) Pea coat and sparkly red YLF scarf.

3. Dinner at a hip downtown eatery with friends. Outfit -- blues and bling. Coat -- Snow Queen.

Thanks for looking and happy holidays, everyone! Wishing you good food, good friends, and great fashion.

Great outfits, Suz! I esp like the white Icelandic style sweater on you. (Sorry, can’t bring myself to call it fair Isle, I’m a purist )
    Happy holidays to you.

Wow. Terrific looks all. That JCrew cream sweater outfit stopped me in my tracks. Made for you. Looking festive in your colors.

Well, of course grey can be festive. Your yoked sweater is fab, but the snow queen coat is fab to the nth degree. It is truly gorgeous and festive.

Here’s someone comparing the Icelandic knitting tradition with Shetland’s. As a knitter, I love them both.

If anyone can make grey festive, it is you Suz - stunning outfits all round. A big yes to wearing grey in a festive way, the fair isle sweater is a perfect white Christmas sweater for you. My goodness, that cobalt sweater is incredible on you and the snow queen coat is so glamorous and fun!

    Smashing! Very lively!

You sparkle in gray and make it festive. Your outfits are all great, but I have to say that your Snow Queen coat is beyond gorgeous! I can imagine you in a scene from Dr. Zhivago!

Stunning greys for sure. You wear it so well and look so elegant and polished. LOVE (especially with the cobalt!)

I haven't managed a festive outfit post, but have been enjoying them from you. No wonder you have received compliments as you look amazing in each and every picture. Merry Christmas!

Suz, you are always chic, sophisticated and gorgeous. Enjoy the holidays! Xx

I don’t think I’ve worn much in the way of color for the last couple of weeks! So festive grey sounds good to me.

I love that blue sweater on you, and the fair isle. And of course the snow queen coat!

You look plenty festive, very fabulous, and of course - sparkle from within. KILLER all round, sweet Suz.

I love it all and can’t pick a fave....

  • unfrumped replied 5 years ago

Still amazed by the snow queen coat. So great that you took the plunge.

  • Laura replied 5 years ago

The Snow Queen is so dramatically fab! And since we’re both writers, I can’t resist mentioning that The Snow Queen by Hans Christian Andersen was the inspiration for “Frozen.” You certainly could rule over any kingdom in that coat!

  • karen13 replied 5 years ago

All so perfect on you. Your waiter is right. And the Snow Queen coat is the definition of festive.

  • Dana replied 5 years ago

You are divine in your fair isle sweater!!!!!!! And I'm swooning over your Snow Queen coat. I think the bright blue is also quite festive. I recently bought these pants https://bit.ly/2rRFK84 in the blue and felt very festive in them the other day with a beautiful ivory blouse.

P.S. the pants are a little shorter and tighter on me than shown. They'd be cute on you, Suz!

Good outfits, I love the culottes with the pleats. It is so good getting compliments on carefully put together outfits. And I hardly saw ‘you’ in the sunnies and beanie!

  • Suz replied 5 years ago

Jane, I know -- I go ingognito in that toque and sunnies! :)

Thank you all for your kind compliments! I had so much fun wearing the Snow Queen coat. I'll probably have it forever.

Dana, love those pants! Very tempting in either colour. I'll bet they look great on you.

JAileen, Elizabeth -- you're right -- this sweater really does look more "Icelandic" -- doesn't it? Maybe that's why I liked it. Hmm. When I was in Iceland I wanted to buy a souvenir sweater but could not pick one. That's an interesting link, JAileen, thank you.

    That coat <3

You DO look good in the grey and blue, I'm still floored by the fair isle sweater on you, and you look good in all of these pics!

  • Jaime replied 5 years ago

Great looks. I love the black and white clutch, the sweater is stunning on you and the snow queen look is fabulous!

  • cheryl replied 5 years ago

That coat! Oh my its gorgeous. You look great in everything and that white sweater is a stunner too!

  • lyn67 replied 5 years ago

Chic and stylish as always-but the furry brocade coat  transforms you in a Snow Queen! Blue and grey are your colors, and I love the fair isle sweater sooo much-best of all casuals!:-)

  • anchie replied 5 years ago

Great outfits, and you can be festive in them the whole winter, not just for the holidays.

  • Ledonna N. replied 5 years ago
