True blue and bling

Quick fly by. Sorry I can't be here more these days -- I miss you all!

Do you have an item in your closet that never lets you down? My David Meister sheath is that item. I know for some it would seem too corporate for dressy wear, but somehow I don't feel that way about it -- the neckline does it, I think. Plus a great fit combined with comfort, so that I never "fuss" in it. I got lots of compliments on this last night from the wait staff and my date and even from a stranger on the subway (commenting on the coat).

Out for a city dinner with Mr. Suz last night. Had my cashmere sweater with me in case of chill but did not need it in the place. I also wore a great fringed blanket scarf from Ms. Mary!!!. Oh, and sheer grey hose.

Every item here except the hat is from previous seasons. Didn't matter a bit.

Sorry for the quick and incomplete bathroom pics! It's that or nothing these days. Wishing you all happy holidays!

So nice to see your face, Suz! That necklace is lovely with the dress, and the coat is the perfect distinctive color to brighten up winter. Isn’t it wonderful to have reliable wardrobe pieces that work and feel fab when life is too busy to worry about fashion? You look great!

  • replied 6 years ago

I love it, Suz.  I think it looks very elegant.  The jewelry and accessories add to the festivity even more.

That dress and you are gorgeous! I clicked through to the link and love the pleated detail. No wonder you got compliments. The necklace is perfect for the neckline. I don't wear really dresses anymore, but I might make an exception if I had one that looked this good on me.

    I hope you’re having a good-busy holiday season!
Your dress is a classic and looks great on you.
The whole point of getting classic pieces is to be able to wear them year after year. Well done.

I am coming up for some lean years, and am happy to have made a lot of investments in footwear, occasionwear and outerwear so that I don’t have to worry about those things for a while.

You look lovely, Suz.  Sounds like a wonderful evening in  the city.

I would love to find a perfect navy dress like that.  I think a simple sheath with great details is absolutely perfect.

You look gorgeous ! Not corporate at all - and in fact, this is so refreshingly simple and classic in a sea of crazy clothes at this time of year. Where did you eat (this is in Toronto?) ?

  • LaPed replied 6 years ago

Navy is so great on you -- and the sparkly bling totally takes any corporate edge off.

  • Angie replied 6 years ago

    KILLER Gorgeous.

I love the silver sparkle with your silver hair. Hope you had a great night.

  • Stagiaire Fash replied 6 years ago

Beautiful. You look stunning, and very well put together.
I don’t think your dress is any more “corporate” than a man’s suit that happens to fit him absolutely perfectly.

  • Jane replied 6 years ago

It does feel so good to have such a reliable go to item, and it is a perfect fit. I like the fringe on the scarf.

  • approprio replied 6 years ago

This is lovely. It's great to see you again.

Those go-anywhere pieces are almost always dresses, or they are for me at least. I have a couple like that - in winter it's an ink blue dress with pin-tucks I made myself, and in summer it's a very old Lacroix dress in viscose jersey (which has just proven its worth on holiday for the umpteenth time.)

Shoes, topper and you're done. The bling helps, of course.

Thank you all! Had unexpected shopping success today! Was not even planning to shop. Will show later.

Lovely outfit, especially love the jewelry. I have not considered BR for jewelry, looks like I should!  You are very lucky to have such a dress in your wardrobe, it looks so fab on you!. Good to hear from you!

  • Dianna replied 6 years ago

You look gorgeous, Suz.  Very elegant and classy, that necklace is the perfect bling for that dress.  And that lilac coat!

  • Joyce B replied 6 years ago

The dress and jewelry look beautiful on you.
Have very Happy Holidays. It is nice to see you again.

  • Joy replied 6 years ago

Suz, blue loves you and this dress is no exception. I have a fall-back EF dress in navy and a different one in black that are no fuss and basic enough to look different with different accessories.

  • Jaime replied 6 years ago

Suz you look absolutely gorgeous and your hair has never been better. Happy Holidays!

  • SarahD8 replied 6 years ago

You look stunning in that dress! It doesn't read as corporate at all to me, it looks really harmoniously gamine with your pixie cut.

  • Greyscale replied 6 years ago

Good to see you! I hope the busy-ness is positive at times. You rock that necklace and your hair looks awesome at that length.

  • Style Fan replied 6 years ago

Gorgeous Suz.  That dress does not let you down.  Your wonderfulness shines through.

  • lyn67 replied 6 years ago

Yes! I have a Paul Costello LBD with 3/4sleeves, boat neck lined in SILK -actually very simillar to yours (including the very  subtle raised shape on the sleeve/shoulder seam) but no drape(aged before the era of drapes) &black. Wore to theatre, funerals,  NYE and other events and  did never let me down! I always admired your LBlueD it is such a wornderful cut and fit- looks so festive with the statement necklace-so no  wonders you love it! Happy Holidays to you, too!

  • Bijou replied 6 years ago

Wow - everything is so beautiful about this outfit, your hair, the necklace and dress. This is the perfect dress, gorgeous neckline, great fit and colour. No wonder you got lots of compliments.

  • krishnidoux replied 6 years ago

Wonderful! This necklace and collar shape combination, along with the dress colour, really bring out your eyes.

I'm late to this but that necklace is fabulous!  Perfect with the simple blue dress.

  • Aida replied 6 years ago

Great to see you Suz!! Loving the Nouveau necklace with the slash neckline which I wouldn't have guessed. I bet that fringey scarf looks awesome with your hair.

  • Suz replied 6 years ago

Aida, right? I didn't think it would work, either. I think it is because the necklace has a fair bit of adjustability. So you can tinker with the length to make it work in different ways.

  • Karie replied 6 years ago

You look beautiful! The dress, your hair, that necklace - perfection!

My favorite sweater dress never lets me down. It's red and blue plaid and it was an Angie pick from (I think) two years ago. It still looks like new, I just put it on and go, and it can be either casual or dressy, and because of all the red it looks festive this time of year.

  • Suz replied 6 years ago

So good to see you, Karie, and I remember and love that dress.

  • Caro in Oz replied 6 years ago

    Gorgeous as always :)

  • Suz replied 6 years ago

    Caro!! Miss you!!!!

  • Caro in Oz replied 6 years ago

    Miss you too Suz.

Channeling European movie star dining out. You look absolutely gorgeous.

  • Gigi replied 6 years ago

Ooh, great bling! Very tastefully done. I'll have to check out similar necklaces at BR...your outfit makes me want one.

I would never have thought to wear that type of necklace with that neckline. You are a genius!

  • Katerina replied 6 years ago

What a lovely outfit! Perfect dress and neckless! Incredibly chic. I can imagine it looks wonderful with the scarf and coat - so modern and fresh.

  • skylurker replied 6 years ago

Happy holidays Suz! The neckline of the dress is very graceful and I love the bling you added.
