WIW: Plaid skinnies and Amy's scarf

Just wanted to show off the fab scarf from my super Secret Santa, Amy!

In the first pic I'm wearing the Kut Mia skinnies with my Stuart Weitzman's -- just because I can. (Got them back...yay!)  But when I venture out I will definitely be tucking them into my La Canadienne Phillip boots. It is a disaster out there!

These skinnies are admittedly the calf-sucking variety that I no longer absolutely adore. Yet they may become my favourite winter skinnies ever for tucking into boots. The fabric feels truly luxurious -- a sort of sateen -- and it is warm.

So glad that you got your luggage back with all your goodies! These skinnies look great on you--I love them both ways-with the booties or with the tall boots.

  • replied 10 years ago

Yes, I agree that calf-suckers are the best for tall boots! You look lovely.

  • Lisa replied 10 years ago

Fun skinnies.  I think plaid never goes out of style but being in skinny form is a nice way to make them more on trend.  I am wearing all my skinny and straight leg jeans daily right now and probably will for the next 2 or 3  months.  It looks like we are already having a very wet winter this year.

  • annagybe replied 10 years ago

I like this outfit, a lot. I do not think they are too skinny.

  • Sveta replied 10 years ago

<shedding a happy tear over the reunion with SW booties>
I really like those, Suz!  I think they would spruce up your skinny-boots formula and make it more enjoyable.
(I have a serious case of envy here because I also would love to get plaid skinnies...)
Is freezing rain still bad in Kingston? I guess we were so lucky it never dropped the temperature enough here for a real freezing rain despite all the warning...:-)

Love this and your scarf-tying technique.  I also love this wintery color scheme -- navy, grey and dark green.

  • Suz replied 10 years ago

Thanks, all. These pants are seriously SO comfortable. Lots of stretch, but not that awful thin stretch fabric. They don't creep down as I move. And Amy's scarf is keeping me warn.

Denise, there's actually no green. The colour reproduction here is poor. The ground is light charcoal with navy, burgundy, and very muted gold in the plaid.

Sveta, the weather is still horrible. It is snowing off and on now. We do have power, however, and I don't think it is supposed to get much worse -- but it's very cold.

I'm loving all the plaid on the forum lately and your skinnies are no exception. You look great Suz. I love the muted tones and your scarf looks so cosy. I think now I need to adjust a pair of my jeans to make them calf-sucking so I can get more wear out of my knee highs.

  • Diana replied 10 years ago

Yay, welcome to the tartan pants club! I think the skinny leg looks great, they have a bit of scrunch and you can tell the fabric is substantial, so they don't look calf sucking.

  • Jewell replied 10 years ago

I'm loving all these looks featuring plaid pants- you look great! You look equally fab in both pics. So glad you got your booties back! I think Santa Amy picked a gorgeous scarf.

  • Gracie replied 10 years ago

Your plaid skinnies look terrific both ways, though if pressed, I'd choose the tall boots look. A black tone-on-tone plaid bottom is the only kind one I'd wear myself – but I have fun admiring the brighter color schemes on others. The scarf and sweater work so well together, great choice, Santa!  I'm glad you got power back on - Merry Christmas to you!

  • catgirl replied 10 years ago

SUZ!  STOP IT NOW!  You are raising the bar so high I will never be able to attain it.  Are those skinnies denim?  Because they look so amazing and somehow dressy if they are denim.  I am in awe.

  • Caro in Oz replied 10 years ago

This is fabulous Suz - glad you are keeping warm :)

  • Janet replied 10 years ago

Great outfit! I love those pants, and what a great scarf!

I may have to give up on the idea of plaid pants -- I can't find any that are flattering on me and long enough. Trying not to blame my thighs. Sigh.

  • ramya replied 10 years ago

I just saw a plaid one other day. It was black red and green and DH didn't let me try it either. So I just showed himm how fab you look and now he wants me to get them:)

  • Suz replied 10 years ago

Ramya, that is so funny! I am flattered.

Una, these are five pocket style jeans but not real denim fabric. They are some kind of poly/ cotton stretch stuff. Here is the link.   And here on the Kut site: http://www.kutfromthekloth.com.....691mc5.htm

They make one in corduroy, too, it appears. You would look awesome in these. They'd be less calf-sucking and more flattering on you.

Thanks everyone! And thanks especially to Amy!  And Angie for the jeans recommendation. They were on one of her lists and she helped me with sizing. I actually sized down in these which was the right thing to do.

  • catgirl replied 10 years ago

Oooh, corduroy?  Must seek!  The grey is fab but the olive really works so well for you - I am sold!

  • Suz replied 10 years ago

Oh - mine are actually the grey, Una. But it's not as light as in the photos. More a charcoal. So it does read a bit "olive" in the photos maybe.

  • catgirl replied 10 years ago

So wait, yours are grey and red?  SWEET!  They look almost coated and they are beautiful.

  • Fruitful replied 10 years ago

Ooh, nice Suz. I love the plaid pants.

  • donnat replied 10 years ago

Those pants look amazing on you. I only wish i could wear them. I have serious thighs and skinny calves.

  • donnat replied 10 years ago

By the way, i have been thinking about you and the weather, i had my fingers crossed for you, glad you have power, lots still dont. I have been watching the news reports.

  • Amy replied 10 years ago

You look amazing, Suz. So glad to see the scarf in action :)

  • Suz replied 10 years ago

I was already wearing a cami underneath this. Later on I added Mo's cashmere hoodie, plus my puffer coat and hat and gloves -- it was seriously cold out today. Our ice is going to stay for at least a week. The poor trees.

Amy, thank you again for the great gift!

  • Joy replied 10 years ago

A wonderful look! I have serious plaid skinny envy but am also drooling over your grey top. Would you share details on it? Please?

  • Suz replied 10 years ago

Joy, it's a drop shoulder dolman style sweater from Zara earlier this season -- silk and cotton, so not warm, but it works with a cami underneath and a scarf (and sometimes an over layer.) I don't see it on the website any more, unfortunately. It has been a good buy for me; it gets a lot of wear.

  • Joy replied 10 years ago

Thanks, Suz. The lovely drape of the cotton/silk blend show. We don't have a Zara but I'll have to check their site next year to see if they repeated this sellout.

  • Karie replied 10 years ago

Suz, you know I love plaid - those skinnies are gorgeous! And you look divine in that scarf and sweater. Zara must move inventory very fast because every time I see something I like, it's gone or out of stock quickly.

  • karymk replied 10 years ago

Suz, Oh please do post a  pic of the snow! I would love to see!

I love the plaid Kuts, I will have to try that brand soon.  I get what you mean about the clinging at the calf, but somethings we have to trade off for others.  e.g., amazing plaid pattern and fit for a tighter calf.

  • pil replied 10 years ago

So glad your suitcase turned up and we get to see this outfit. Amy's scarf looks positively toasty warm. I'm finding that even a silk scarf is nice for warmth during the day while I'm at home. Of course one or two pug dogs in my lap help keep me warm too :)

  • Suz replied 10 years ago

LOL, Pil. I have a Siamese cat for that purpose. He is a similar colour to your pugs and goes well with my new BR cream jeans!  :)

  • karymk replied 10 years ago

Siameses and pugs are of the "cooler" neutral variety, no wonder you look fab with your animals!

My tan chihuahua is too warm to match me!

  • JAileen replied 10 years ago

    Fab, just fab. Congrats!

  • Beth Ann replied 10 years ago

Love the plaid pants on you -- they have presence without overwhelming, if you know what I mean.  And they provide dark colors with a bit of pop --- so valuable for those dark cold days of winter!

  • rae replied 10 years ago

Gorgeous scarf, and how brilliant to pair it with plaid! I don't think I'd have thought of that. Also cheering for the return of the missing suitcase!

  • replied 10 years ago

    Plaid envy here!

  • Jaime replied 10 years ago

Yay for returned suitcases! Both versions are fantastic!

  • Ariadne replied 10 years ago

*faints*  This has got to be one of your best ever.  Those pants are divine!  I think they add in that "disciplined avant-garde" element you said you wanted to incorporate in 2014.  And hooray for returned luggage.  What a relief.
